Any plans soon to support CAPTCHA popups for BA OW award searches? What is the specified velocity and how long do I have to give it to "rest" before I attempt another search? Is there any way around this? Thanks in advance!

Yes, we are looking for a solution to the CAPTCHA compatibility issue.

The CAPTCHA tends to appear after approx. 40-50 consecutive searches (in a short period of time).

Clearing MSIE cookies and restarting the KVS Tool will normally reset it. You can also solve the CAPTCHA using a regular web browser.

Otherwise, you may wish to use the [Awards/QF-OneWorld] Method (or one of the airline-specific Methods) instead.

Thanks for the response KVS -- I tried clearing the cookies from Internet Explorer, and then doing an award search using my browser (and was prompted with a checkbox for reCAPTCHA asking if I was a robot which I completed). When I restarted KVS tool, I still encountered the same problem which is strange  -- I saved my login if that makes a difference.

I will stick with QF in the meantime I guess.

I just signed up, paid and did the Wizard and I've received TWO e-mails with temporary registration codes. (the code is the same in both emails)

Is that on purpose or is something looping by accident? :D

That is normal -- each copy is sent via a different server for system redundancy reasons.

Thanks, that worked!

Other question:

When I search for YVR-KTM awards, nothing shows up. BUT when I search, e.g.

HKG-KTM - Award found (e.g. October 27)
YVR-HKG - award found (e.g. October 26 or 27)

but when I search for YVR-KTM, I get nothing. It shouldn't be a too many segments problem, as I think the upper limit for KVStool was 5 segments? The award-route would be YVR-HKG-DAC-KTM, all on Cathay/Dragonair. (searching with the Cathay-tool, even) Why do you think this is?

d'Yquem Jul 19, 2015 4:51 pm

Can the KVS availability tool once-again provide paid fare availability for BA through the main (downloadable) program (rather than only through the app)?

Thanks in advance

My subscription to KVS has expired. Could I impose on some nice person to let me know the availability of coach seats on BA 0288 departing PHX on Oct 21? I am trying to figure out if I should pay for a seat assignment.
Thank You

There are approx. 130 seats unassigned. However, it's still 3 months away and I'm sure a good majority of people just get seat assignments at the airport rather than paying the fee. If you're concerned about getting stuck in a middle seat, just pay the fee and then relax.

There's no need to pay KVS for that (so your post and my answer are probably off topic). FlyerTalk's BA board has a thread where your post would probably have been answered faster:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ght-loads.html

Right now BA is prepared to sell lots of seats in all World Traveller buckets: Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G9.

Regular Availability continues to be accessible via the KVS Tool Mobile Companion [only].

KVS Tool has a 400 queries limit, it seems. But I cannot find out whether that's a daily, weekly, or monthly limit and when it gets reset.
Anybody has any insights?

Mobile Companion usage limits are set on a calendar monthly basis.

As always, no limits apply to the main KVS Tool application.

Bummer. The last week of the month will be the time I travel and when I will be needing the tool the most.

Please add this limit info in your help page. It is disappointing to hear of this limitation after I prepaid for one whole year.

Thank you for the suggestion to contacting support. I will do that.

I do not doubt it must be noted somewhere.

Hey - surprises like this are just another part of what you buy when using the KVS Tool. The data that KVS allows unlimited access to is being provided contrary to the policies of its owners. I'd bet that KVS actually pays for the data distributed by the 'companion' hence the limitati:rolleyes:ns. Clearly, KVS's business practices show that that the company feels it's okay to give access to unlimited data if they don't have to pay for it (because it's not KVS's to give away).

It shouldn't be a big surprise. On the webpage that lists the various membership levels and prices it states at the bottom: Mobile Companion access is subject to a Fair Usage policy. It would seem, at least to me, that 400 inquiries in a month is certainly well beyond what would be considered "fair usage".

To KVS's credit, they have reset my quota for this month as an exception.

I am not sure whether 400 is fair or not, but this is my usage:
I am monitoring availability of CX HKG to 3 west coast cities on a given day. Because the time of departure is around mid-night, every time I do a search, I have to run essentially six queries. As of yesterday, I was at 335, I think, before the reset.

Jim055 Jul 22, 2015 12:28 pm

@geclub1 abuse is abuse. 400 is more than fair.

If you break it down it's not excessive at all. Over the past few days I've been searching for availability from six possible gateways in the US to five in Asia, across all three alliances, in either business or F, with both TATL and TPAC as options. Even checking just once a day (with only occasional segment by segment searches) it's easy to get to over 1,000 enquiries in a week.

You don't have to use the mobile version for every search, as the standard version of KVS has unlimited searches. Just a way of getting around the 400 limit. I understand how you can rack up a very large number with all the combinations you both are searching.

Presumably, those would be Award Availability searches via the main KVS Tool application, which does not have any search limits.

I have been without a laptop for the last 6-8 weeks and have been living off a Chromebook. Is there for me to run the full tool and not only the mobile companion?

Without having to do anything to the Chromebook OS?

The main KVS Tool application requires a full-featured machine to run on (i.e. PC/Mac laptop/desktop/netbook).

I got a question re the fare display: http://www.kvstool.com/Screenshots.php#FaresGOL
The only part I'd need KVS for is the basefare listing tool, so I want to be 100% sure it works before I buy a membership.
http://www.kvstool.com/Screenshots.php#FaresGOL doesn't show any screenshots, so could you guys clarify a few things for me, thanks!
1) Does the fare display feature work? Does it show all basefares for a city pair combination? Does it show the basefares for just the given date or for the entire year?
2) Are any other accounts needed to operate the fare display feature (like a Sabre getthere account?)

vbroucek Jul 27, 2015 3:15 am

Unfortunately, with KVS you do not know anything for sure nowadays. It works today and does not work tomorrow. Depends on who blocks KVS from its dubious practices...

It shows the first 40 lowest published Fares for the requested route/carrier.

The Fare validation rules applied are Seasonality, Advance Purchase, Min Stay, Max Stay.

Strange. It works for me every time. I saved over $3,000 on biz class to Hawaii just this week. Granted, I have Diamond membership. It updates every time an airline website changes. Perhaps you should upgrade?

Paying money to KVS is not the answer here. There is a l:(ng history of unhappy KVS customers after the tool suddenly stops working properly followed by some specific data set being no longer available. This is because of KVS's continued unauthorized use of web site data. Plenty of posts in this thread (and the previous one) attest to these facts.

Smiley90 Jul 27, 2015 2:24 pm

I'm not sure if I'm too stupid for it or not, but when I search for availability by calendar, I get a list of availabilities but no dates associated with those flights. How am I supposed to tell which of the ~14 days it searched for has this availability, short of checking each individual day separately?

A web site may authorize you to access its data. That does not give you the right to re-use or re-purpose that data. United, f:or example, has (in part) this to say on the topic:
User [of the site] agrees not to use any robot, spider, other automatic device, or manual process to monitor or copy this website or the content contained therein or for any other unauthorized purpose without United’s prior written permission.
