Probably -- that's certainly caused problems in the past and was one of the reasons I stopped subscribing.

The KVS approach to piracy is uncompromising. Inconveniencing customers is acceptable if it helps prevent other people from using the program without paying.

Exactly.

As much as I hate the ExpertFlyer interface, I am now subscribing to ExpertFlyer and will not renew my KVS subscription when it expires.

Why can't KVS make an arrangement with whoever and obtain LEGAL data. Hell, just charge us a bit more if needed. I much prefer the KVS interface to ExpertFlyer's.

Yes, exactly.

I did not stop subscription because a hate. I stopped it because it stopped providing what I wanted.

No, I don't think developer is interested in the challenge. The developer is interested in milking as much money from what he currently has as possible.

First, such access is expensive. Second, I doubt anyone who has ever read KVSTOOL threads here and on MilePoint would be willing to enter into contract with company who has been robbing others for so long...

Having just renewed, even with all the recent issues, mainly for availability's sake - its very annoying to see that broken.

We are still looking into the MC [Availability] Engine issue and will post an update on the KVS Tool Homepage as soon as more information becomes available.

Didn't you read the post #171 :D. It is not "transient server error" anymore... Perhaps whoever provides source for the data finally realised that it is then being "re-sold" further, perhaps without source's knowledge...

i hope availability returns soon! that was the main unique thing i was using it for. the interface for SQ/CX awards just makes it more convenient to search compared to navigating the SQ/CX sites.

The same for me and after having used the tool for many years and having made 10 or so contributions I feel slightly scammed - no more availability in the tool itself, a mobile companion that doesn't work either, ...
I always felt that KVS worked best for me but it looks like time has come to switch to a different tool - how does for example ExpertFlyer compare?

And wouldn't it be decent for KVS to return at least part of the money he took for a tool that now has been stripped of it's core functionality?

I was long term "financial supporter" of KVS too... I've questioned KVS practices some time ago, but hey, the tool worked wonders for me, so I shut up at the end. But IMHO, the tool is now worthless and will disappear completely soon... Found different solution for myself - trusted brick and mortar travel agent...

He/she will tell you that there are "other" valuable functions in the tool that are worth your money...

Agreed. I've been using and contributing for seven years. If the availability function doesn't return in the next few days I'll be requesting a full refund.

Good luck to those requesting a refund. I couldn't even get an extension (after years of 'contributing' at the Diamond level), but I guess at this point it doesn't much matter.

We are still awaiting a definitive outcome regarding the MC [Availability] Engine status and will post an update on the KVS Tool Homepage as soon as it becomes available, one way or the other.

I, and I'm sure many others, am certainly hopeful that you can work it out somehow. I think this is the only avenue left to get revenue fare class availability without paying a huge monthly amount to Saabre.

That said, I will surely be asking for a refund, as this is basically all I use it for - and I just renewed less than a week ago.

KVS I'm noticing that all UA flights when doing a Star Alliance search (ANA tool) are showing "F/" even though F class is available. Is UA blocking that information from *A partners now?

Quick question. I looked at the KVS FAQ and read from many on here that they are able to use KVS tool to search Delta award availability.

Because of this I became a contributor and now that I've been using the tool I haven't been able to figure out any way to view upgrade space on DL flights (like OP inventory, medallion upgrade space, mileage upgrade space, etc.).

Is this possible? If not, I don't have much need for this product...

Short answer: KVS can't do what you're looking for.

Longer answer: to clarify your understanding, for most (all?) award searches, KVS does not provide access to any data you couldn't already get yourself electronically--hence it asking you to provide login credentials for various frequent flier programs. The system just scrapes the particular website, in addition to providing a few handy features (ex. saving searches). The only way that I'm aware of to see DL upgrade space is to call in (I could be wrong, been a while since I cared about seeing DL's inventory).

For the record, I will point out that KVS does not claim to display DL upgrade availability, only award inventory.

Availability is back up again, thanks to KVS. I'm afraid availability is a deal breaker for me.

KVS can I trouble you with one minor wish - now that Availability's back up, can you make that the default option instead of Timetable? Small inconvenience but much appreciated if you can do it!

Also it would be nice if it remembered if the "Direct only" option is on or off when saving the search as a favorite.

And also if when opening the favorite it would execute the search automatically rather than just displaying the search parameters and requiring to press "Go". This would let me save all my searches in a links/favorites folder and just right-click and "Open All links in folder" to immediately execute my saved searches.
