ExpertFlyer showed Q2 for the outbound segments, but Q0 for both return segments. It was like that for every day I searched; Q2 on outbound, Q0 on return. I called the EXP desk and was quoted the price I saw at aa.com: $428. When I gave the agent the specific flights I found on ITA Matrix, she instantly came back with the price I was expecting: $300.

With both aa.com and ExpertFlyer seemingly saying the same thing (that I wouldn't find the $300 price point), I was expecting ITA to be incorrect and was pretty surprised to actually be able to book it. Any experience with something like this?

I think that this is a case of AA being willing to sell a round trip Q fare from your point of origin but not a one way Q fare (from your destination) and possibly not even a round trip if you were to start with the Q0 flight.

EF is just doing an inventory search whereas ITA is pricing out every flight combination. The $300 Q fare comes back during the pricing phase not the inventory check phase.

At least I think this is what is going on.

DAK.

Did you search for the segments individually? The availability on one segment is also affected by what other segments you propose to book in combination with it. (This is "married segment logic".)

For instance, BNA-ORD-TVC on 8th Jan has availability Q1 when booked together—

Code:

                                                                    Frequency
Flight        Stops  Depart            Arrive            Aircraft  Reliability    Available Classes

1 Connection
AA 3360      0      BNA                ORD                CR7      Daily          F7 A7 P7 Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 W7 V7 G7 S7 N6 Q1 O0

AA 3138      0      ORD                TVC                ERD      Su,M,T,W,Th,F  Y7 B7 H7 K7 M7 L7 W7 V7 G7 S7 N6 Q1 O0
                    08/01/16 17:35    08/01/16 19:37              85% / 26m

If you booked the inventory separately, then it is Q7 and Q6.

I appreciate EF bringing back award display for numerous * carriers. ^

Having locked at LH awards, it seems to show flights only with inventory available.
Now I am facing a challenge: How can I set an alert for an award seat, if the flight does not show up in the first place?
E.g. FRA-SFO on 3/22 the nonstop LH flight does not show at all. How can I set an alert for this flight in such a case?

You can always set an alert from either the Create New Flight Alert page (if you know the flight information) or from the general Flight Availability results which will show all flights as always.

What has happened to ExpertFlyer Flight Availability search? Shows Change (departure/arrival) Airport, and not place to indicate the desired airport code.

Also gone is Airline choice - only allows alliance choice. Is this a browser issue or a bug to the GUI?

It's been working fine for me in the last hour, under intensive use. So I suspect something corrupt in your browser or browser cache.

EP now supports Etihad searchs?

hey guys, does anyone know if expertflyer now supports etihad award space searches and seat alerts? I seem to remember that was a change about a month ago. Thanks

That seems like what the issue was. I hadn't searched the inventory separately on ExpertFlyer. Thanks for the help understanding that!

can I edit saved alerts?

I'm pretty sure this question has been answered a few times but I couldn't locate it in this thread.
I have saved alert for AA flight with criteria "At least 2 in Business - MileSAAver Award (U)". Can I change it to notify me when at least 1 seat becomes available without deleting this alert and creating a new one?
thanks!

We're sorry but Flight Alerts have to be deleted and recreated.

I have not found this exact issue - (or my searching skills suck). I am looking for fare info on BTV-HPN on AA and I get "no entries". I tried changing the dates and still nothing. I tried removing AA and also get nothing.

I know there are fares, so what gives?

Hi, as we noted in our email reply, there is no BTV-HPN published fare. That route is priced by combining fares to/from the connecting city. You can see this by viewing the fare rules of priced flights.

Thank you and my apologies. I am fairly new to it so I didnt understand why they were missing. It makes sense now.

Probably not.... most of EF award availability is for members of that airlines own program, not for partners (I think there are exceptions to this, but is good rule-of-thumb). I'm pretty sure that in this case it is availability for AF elite members not DL elite members.

The way to find out is to look and see if it is available at Delta's own website.
