Yes, on BA, A is discounted first class and C is semi-flex business.

Qantas availability query

Apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong thread - I have an EF query re availability for QF award flights. I have a premium subscription to EF and have created several alerts in an effort to secure U availability for a flight back to London on 3 April 2016. With no availability showing, I created alerts in EF for both U & X, with the thought that if I can get a seat in X, I may be able to upgrade to U when it becomes available. I duly received a notification from EF that there was QF award availability in X but checking on the AA website showed no award availability in any class on that date. I rang the Platinum desk and after waiting an hour (I am retired - i need to get this seat confirmed…) was advised by the attendant that there is no award availability showing on QF on that date at all.

Did I ring too early - should I wait and try again tomorrow or is there in fact no availability on that date? I wondered if there is a problem with AA, as I have also been chasing two award first or business class seats on Etihad SYD/IST on any date in the first 3 weeks of September next year and am told there is nothing available not only in Etihad but on ANY AA partner airline.

Is there some very obvious problem that I am too ignorant to see? Hoping someone has some clarification on this issue?

It may be that QF is providing a different level of availability to its partners than it provides in its own programme. However I have found that BAEC usually sells out of QF U/X availability. So, clutching at straws, it could be that there is a problem with the AA/QF link somehow.

I don't know if AA is willing to a direct/manual sell on a "NN" basis but if there is a problem with the QF-AA link that would bypass the problem.

I'm seeing many days on which EF shows X inventory but AA doesn't show SAAver availability, so it's not just a case of things changing between EF sending a notification and you checking aa.com. There have also been several reports of another issue with aa.com and QF recently: 'phantom' availability, i.e. aa.com showing award availability that cannot actually be booked. So it seems that you and Calchas are right to suspect that the problem lies with AA and not EF.

GOT LUCKY

Thanks IMH and Calchas - got up early to check the AA website for availability and lo and behold a BA seat in U was available - booked it immediately! Still don't know what the problem is regards QF availability discrepancies between EF and AA - just glad I got that seat! Now my only problem is trying to book seats on EY SYD-IST! I joined Asiamiles in order to keep checking on availability through their site - hopefully perseverance will reward.

I'ma bit confused and need clarification from EF: I understood that UA awards were not available for searching on EF. Is this correct? If so, your website appears to have an error, for when I search it for which airline awards are visible, it claims UA awards are???

http://www.expertflyer.com/sessionlessClassList.do

Also, can you confirm whether Air Canada awards are available for searches?

That link is always correct in terms of what EF supports for award airlines. Both UA (newly) and AC are supported. If you have an issue with a specific search, please email us the details to [email protected]

Hi all,

I am really not sure if this is the right forum but maybe someone can get me on the right track...

Problem:
I'm looking for flights AMS-MCT-KUL and vv. in Businees Class in FEB16 and found a fare on EF, i.e. Farebasis RLEE4MNL with WY/OmanAir. However, I cannot replicate this fare on ITA or any OTA or on the airlines website itself. I read the fare rules many times but apparently I don't know why ITA/OTA doesn't show up with this fare.
I assume it have to be booked in booking class "R" but I can't force ITA to show it up with "/F BC=R".
Availabilty is wide open in booking class "R".

So can anyone give me a hint or tell me where to ask this question in flyertalk forum?

best regards

Premium Unoccupied -> Available Seat Notifications on EF

I'm guessing this has been asked/answered before but I can't find it after searching FT and EF.
I've got a couple of Z award tix on BA in First on their 744. Currently in seats 2A/2K. Would like to move to 1A/1K when/if they move them from Premium status to Available. However, I cannot find a way on EF to program an alert for notification when an unoccupied premium seat moves to available. Is this possible to do??
Thx

If you don't find any way of doing this, then make a diary note: 1AK are usually released when the edited seat map is published by BA. This is normally at about lunchtime UK time on the day three days before the flight (eg Monday lunchtime for a flight on Thursday). That is when the EF marking normally changes from premium to available, if nobody has already pre-allocated the seat.

Thanks for the tip. I put a reminder to alert me 12:00 GMT @ T-72 to flight.

I just went to log on to my account and it says that its locked. You sent me an email asking if I am doing robotic searches but I am not.

The day my flight becomes available, I manually refresh it through out the day waiting for it to become available. Then I call to book it.

Please see the email I sent for more details.

Thanks

EF is showing 7 F awards on many, many AF flights LAX-CDG next September and October. That seems, well, unlikely. The note on EF says it's inventory available to partners but it seems highly improbably that AF would release 7 seats on so many flights, especially since (AFAIK) only FB elites can book those awards.

Bug on EF's part or is it legit?

Hi, we did a search for the first week of September and found only Premium Economy awards, few if any Business/Economy awards. Make sure you are searching for the classic award classes (O/A/X). If you need more help, then you should post specific dates/flights/classes you are referring to, or email us directly.

I see. I was confused by the wording on the result page with searching for F:

Flights will only be returned by Air France if it has an Award class that has non-zero availability.
The Air France Award search shows partner award inventory. Availability to Flying Blue members may be greater. Click here for more information
