I'm sorry but these are unrelated things.

Yes, but you have to have a full membership (not the cheaper one). On the left hand side of the home screen you'll see a button for "Create New Flight Alert". You'll just have to know what award code you are looking for. Works like a charm.

I'm doing the 5 day "Pro" trial because I want to experiment with setting up alerts for "U" space on Alaska Airlines' flights (which is what is needed in order to apply an MVP Gold Guest Upgrade).

But I cannot figure out how to do this: I have put in "U" in both the fare code box and the fare class box and search a route on a date that I know from AS' website where there is indeed "U" space available on flights -- but I get no results.

Sorry if this has been asked upstream, but a search of the thread didn't find my query.

TIA!

The easiest way to set an alert is:

- go to "Flight Availability" (column on the left hand side)
- only enter your desired date, route and airline
- scroll to the flight you're interested in, then click on the "exclamation mark box" on the right hand side and select booking class "U" and "at least 1"
- you can also send a test e-mail to verify the search is set up properly

Thank you! I was searching on the "Fare Information" tab

That category only gives you the published base fares, fare rules, permitted routings etc. (*very* useful, especially for int'l travel, but more in an abstract way)

Btw, if you just want to check upgrade availability on AS (without setting an alert), the easiest option is to go to the "Awards & Upgrades" section and choose your route, AS, booking class U / upgrade to First, +/- 3 days

And yet another question (sorry): How to I search for "R" availability on a route in order to apply a United RPU? That option doesn't come up on the United picklist on the awards/upgrades tab

FYI and IIRC, according to some threads on the UA forum, R is now called PZ.

Thanks. That's still not on the picklist and the "Other Fare Class" box won't let you add a two-letter code.

Correct, the only available UA award classes are the ones on the list which is only O,I,X not R/PZ.

Will PZ inventory be added?

That would be up to United to share that information.

Quick question: Does EF retrieve AC award availability X/I from AC/Aeroplan or another *A partner? (Just asking since AC releases more award availability to Aeroplan members)

It is not from Aeroplan, it is partner level award inventory.

I am looking to fly LOT from BUD > JFK
Expert flyer is showing no seats, but United is showing 2. I am noticing a lot of differences on this route with United's website vs EF.

Of course I want to fly Oct 13th 2019 which is not yet open with United, but it is open on the LOT site and Krisflyer (I have Citi/Chase points to move). Krisflyer is more like EF with results, their call center told me about 1 hour ago they only saw BUD > JFK Flights on Sept 14th and Oct 14th for 2 in business class. So I jumped on the 2 on the 14th which is not awful, but I'd prefer the Sunday flight. We have off on Monday for Columbus Day, so would be nice to be home, catch up, do laundry, food shop, etc before getting back to work on Tues.

Here are a couple of screen shots I just took -yes I know United shows extra seats to card members which I am but those are always listed as "exclusive to card members" and the direct flight below is clearly not labeled as such.

United shows so much inventory. I am willing to pay the extra 10,000 in points to fly home on the Sunday. But I worry if I wait another few days for the united inventory to load for the 13th that it will not be available. Krisflyer has a hold for me now on the ticket on the 14th.

Am I missing something obvious before I finish my morning coffee? I was also thinking of doing the Krisflyer booking and set up an EF alert if the Sunday flight did open back up?

The united LOT inventory is phantom. I tried booking an itinerary a few weeks ago, the transaction went through, but never got ticketed. After I called in, I've been told that LOT told them there is no availability and did not ticket it.
