Indeed.

I've currently voted with my wallet and cancelled my renewal.

I have done likewise tonight. Access to seat maps is the key reason I subscribe and the lack of any customer service response to such a fundamental product issue is disappointing.

My renewal was due on 28th of this month, so have cancelled it as well until they acknowledge the issue and give a timeline for it to be fixed!

I wouldn’t hold your breath. This is not an uncommon pattern in the software industry. Some developer(s) created a cool product, which then gets acquired by a massive conglomerate corporation, and now the product is left to wither on the vine. Just milking what it can from its loyal customer base, and new customers that don’t know better. For the couple of years I’ve been a customer, I’ve seen no major updates or improvements. Just a few scattered comments on FT of things not being supported anymore. My guess is there is zero active development, and a truly minimal support staff.

Perhaps I’m wrong. Only ExpertFlyer future activity will change my opinion.

Is there an alternative out there? I have paid (except covid time) since 2018, for mainly seat alerts and the ability to see seat plans i.e Occupied/Unoccupied quickly and without doing dummy bookings all the time.

The service has definitely declined over the years, hence cancelling the renewal. Better for the money to be in my pocket until the issue is fixed vs in theirs and I am only able to rant on here about it :)

Hi folks, I'm looking to get J class tickets as soon as they are released on Aeroplan i.e. in real time. Does Expertflyer provide such functionality (maybe through seat alerts)?

ExpertFlyer does allow you to set Flight Alerts for specific flight numbers and specific fare classes.

Seat maps still not working. Any update on when they will be back up?

AB Dada Oct 22, 2024 11:13 am

I want to cancel but I paid for a full year, Feb-Feb, ugh.

I actually have some basic code to scrape seat data (against all the airline TOS) but I only run that code like 4 times a day for a few flights, so I may just go back to using that.

No representative of ExpertFlyer has posted in this thread since Chris, AKA: ExpertFlyer Voice, the last of the original ExpertFlyer founders who kept working at ExpertFlyer after it was acquired by Red Ventures/TPG, left in April 2023.

You can read his goodbye post here.

Its a shame Ive just paid for a new month, ive cancelled the renewal so they have a month to sort it out but I have a bad feeling about this to be honest. Shame really.

After two unanswered attempts to get more information from EF re status, canceled my upcoming yearly renewal. Will keep month-to-month for now.

Why would anyone buy this company and then destroy it?

I reached out to support on this as well when I first noticed it was broken a couple days ago, have yet to hear back.

Is there any good alternative (free or paid) that can at least view seat maps?
