Expert Flyer Not Sending Notifications via Text

I've contacted EF twice about this. Their first response was a, "we're working on it." The second, "We regret to inform you that ExpertFlyer will no longer be offering "text alerts" for Flight/Seat Alerts." To be blunt, this ain't gonna work for me!!! About 1/3 of my use involves timely alerts. Anyone know of a decent alternative app/website?

Thanks

I just signed up for ExpertFlyer for the first time after years of not using it. One feature that I would really like to have is the ability to get a seat alert when a currently *unoccupied* seat becomes occupied or blocked. The obvious use case is having an empty seat next to me that I am hoping will stay empty, and wanting to know if it gets filled, as I'll go pick another place to sit that has an empty seat next to it.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I've shifted a few times, mainly on BA short haul where the expansion/ contraction of the euro-business cabin is easily alerted by aircraft change. Failing that, the only way I know is to set up a seat map query for the flight (which i do as a matter of course) and regularly check.

I believe that TK have pulled all their content including fares and availability display from Sabre, so EF is now unable to display anything for TK. Such as shame that Expertflyer doesn’t use something like Galileo or Amadeus as a secondary source. TK is now a big hole.

I don't think you can. I agree this would be a very useful feature. I often switch around for this reason too

Definitely this - I set the aircraft change alert for this reason and like Tocsin, I also check my seats regularly. In addition, I set alerts on my seats becoming available in case we’re booted out which has happened a few times lately (and to others too) so I know pretty quickly and can move us back.

Good point - there have been substantial reports about people being shifted out of row 2 on BA flights (sometimes without re-assignment at all). Setting seat alerts on your own seats seems to be a wise precaution.

Sure looks like it to me - wish they didn't do such a good job preventing duplicate accounts. In my case, they are now costing themselves money because I wanted to buy premium to use the search for some upcoming stuff.

The service isn’t working as of now. I do wonder what I’m paying for…

Seems like pulling up seatmaps are not working right now...

Agreed and so frustrating for a paid service!

Still down!

Their payment system isnt down!! Just had this month taken. I was wanting to book something last night but part of that process for me is to see seat positions before and choose the best flight for seat availability that I like.

And disappointing that no one from ExpertFlyer has been on here to update us. The problem persists but nothing either here or on ExpertFlyer to acknowledge the problem or advise when we can expect resolution.

I’ve emailed them twice about the seat alerts issue but got nothing back. The problem isn’t even listed on their known technical issues page. The seat alert functionality is one of the main reasons I pay for their service but what’s the point moving forward if it doesn’t work? Their customer service takes forever to reply and when they do, the replies are generally empty of substance with no solution or timeframe for resolution. Occasionally, I’ll get a small extension to my subscription if I really throw my toys out of the pram but it’s far from ideal.
