I figure if a closeout place in Australia can sell it for $327 (that's AUD$297 or under USD$283 without tax) then there must be some deals out there at least as good as this.

Has anyone hunted down a better deal - from a bricks & mortar shop?

It's all for the coolness factor :D

Scott, will you be giving MrsC's EEE a new 'top'?
Seeing as the Surf models come with coloured lids I wonder if anyone has retrofitted a coloured lid instead of the standard monochrome one?

Coolness on a different level - customisation definitely. What about an aluminium lid or a mirrored one? :)

(PS. What's the story with the Dell Mini on your blog? Will it release as soon as Atom debuts?)

Eee PC 900 on its way

It will make a nice traveling companion over the summer and a nice gift to my sister come September when she starts her teacher training (and when I upgrade to one of the new Atom devices :D).

I find it hard to believe that manufacturers are only just bringing out what so many have wanted for so long (and not to mention what the Psion 7 promised so long ago).

Let us not go there :(

Outside influences were the only reason such device never really made it to market, Psions were incredible in most every way. Sipped battery and very productive with a nice expanding KB that was almost full size for a tiny device.....

The Acer Aspire One is very nice looking indeed... and cheap!

Not sure about that...

I'm too lazy to read through the thread but RBC bank in Canada is currently giving them away if you switch banking to them.

I wonder if that includes new accounts?

Just took a look at it, it does look sharp, almost EXACTLY like the HP Mininote, I wonder if there is any correlation...

The US is a good market for such devices, Palm, Microsoft and others didn't what their products here and actively worked to prevent it from happening.
I was in the retail business as a small fry at the time, the anti psion push in 2000-2001 was great, the 5mx was an incredible productivity tool and product was very marketable here.

Any price drop on the original EEE 701 now that the new wave are announced with pricing?

I figure if I just bought one, the price must be dropping.

            My first reply from E900.

There's a lot to like about the Eee PC 900 - I'm typing this reply on mine. Getting it to work with my Huawei E220 modem was simple so I was pretty much connected out of the box!

Quick question about Eee PC and Wireless security

My new Eee PC appears not to support the flavour of WPA/length of my key. Has anyone else had similar problems?

The website wiki.eeeuser.com has a lot of information about the computer, including that wireless keys with space characters can cause a problem. Could that be the problem for you?
