Which Eee? And as a Hackintosh, or actually running Linux?

Either way, the price difference and screen size difference (13.3" vs 8.9-10")is sufficiently huge that it's hard to imagine really comparing them. For the price of a basic Air and the size of an Eee, for example, you could get a Fujitsu P1620 which is a Eee 900-sized (8.9"/2.2lb) tablet with a ULV dual core processor that will completely smoke the Eee.

There are also a range of 12"/12.1" tablets and 12.1" subnotebooks for something intermediate in size, generally around the same price as the cheaper-configuration Airs.

That's like comparing a Porsche Boxter to a motorbike. :)

I've posted a few times about my MBA (which died) and bought the eee pc after getting my refund. I miss the MBA experience and am waiting for a new model. :)

The basic eee pc does the browsing ok but it is limited to just that (along with obvious power, resolution & screen/keyboard size limitations), whereas I could use the MBA for everything.

You could always get a cheap 'netbook' (as they are often called) in the meantime, before you settle on a superlight notebook like the MBA.

I'm interested in the time it takes for delivery - I'd guess around 10 working days?

My Asus eee PC 1000HD arrived today - exactly 2 weeks after I ordered it.

I've just taken it out of the box and am charging it - cant wait to turn it on! :)

I think everyone received their eees by now; I think you will enjoy using it. :)

fifa (and Glenn and everyone else who ordered the eee pc 1000HD)
I bought a 1000H (Atom 1.6Ghz variant) from JB Hifi for $539.

As you've probably seen from banner ads, the retailer had 10% off this weekend - but had already discounted the 1000H to $599.

(You probably are not thrilled to hear if but at that price you might want to phone a friend and get these before they run out of stock... Much easier than trying to find a 6 cell Acer in this country).

Nice timing, too. On the comped free for life Citii |plat card, so extended warranty should help. Not to mention the $50 GST refund I will ask for at SYD in four weeks. ^

This will be for my dearest, so she should enjoy seeing her work on a screen almost 50% larger than her 7" eee. :)

I bought my 1000H last night for $345 USD after 30% cashback through live.com. The 30% takes 60 days hit my PayPal account, but is much more reliable than a mail in rebate.

For comparison purposes, AUD$539 less GST refund (if flying intl this month to get this refund) is AUD$489 = USD$380 today. Not bad!

GuyverII, that's a great deal.
The deal here was 23% off RRP, before the tax rebate or 30% after the tax rebate.

Swings and roundabouts. :)

Thanks, looking forward to playing, errr..uh, working on this little box. I was originally going to get the Acer Aspire One 6 cell but read many complaints about it being a scratch and dust magnet.

What a great price BiziBB!!! I live in the country so didn't see the JB HiFi promo.
Oh, well, what I dont have I wont know about! The atom would have been great but...

I love my new 1000HD and so do all my friends.
Is yours loaded with Star Office - looks like its compatible with MS Office 2007which will be handy but I have yet to try it out.

Have loaded AVG and Mozilla and may also put GIMP on then I'll be set. :)

I love my Acer, its my baby, I have a small capacity battery but I can get about 2.5 hours out of it , Its certainly a fingerprint magnet because of the shiny surfaces but no more than a cellphone, I am aware of the fact that I am hard on laptops so I always buy a vinyl skin to stick on the top cover, I managed the Asus and a 13 inch Toshiba (plus a memory stick and a pencil) out of a single skin so I was rather pleased, it looks so much less like a childs toy than the Asus,
