My main cruncher hasn't been able to download work for the last week or so. Anyone know if this is some sort of systemic problem, or just something related to me? I even uninstalled it and installed the console version, but no dice.

Spammy

Can't beleive that no one has done this yet, but welcome to FT and to the folding team! Who knows, with some of the things you are able to pick up on the site, you might well be on your way to plenty of flying ;)

Not to worry Birdstrike, I hope to pass FTUser as well <grin>. Well, ok -- it'll be awhile, but I'm working on it!

I must admit, I'm only a FlyerTalk.com member because of the folding team, which I was introduced to by one of your members. I'm an amateur (not even a "student" pilot, but only an hour or two per week. MS Flight Sim keeps me happy the rest of the time. Does that count as a FlyerTalk'er?

Not having any trouble down here in OZ. Computers in Melbourne and my notebook (Brisbane) are up/downloading with no problems.

Will have to check on some of the units in Melbourne when I am down there this weekend. Should have a few more working away than what is showing up

Steve

The wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly and predictably: even though I assured them that the folding program had never been reported to compromise any system's security, the community college's IT "gurus" finally decided it was "too risky" to allow any of their computers to fold proteins.

Our tax dollars at work . . . .

I'll try to recruit some others instead.

Yes, welcome Spammy. Actually, there are numerous folders, most unposted but a few who did post, that are unidentified & formally unwelcomed. Short of going back through 16 pages of postings & my fading memory, here are some newbies that I cannot connect with a posting. So, identify yourself, and welcome!

Runawaynow123

Jon Maiman

And probably others that I'm not connecting F@H name with FT name. Welcome to one & all that have decided to contribute to this worthy cause.

Congratulations team ... together we have just passed the 2 Million points mark. Does that earn us Lifetime Platinum Folding status?

Currently ranked 161 on the ladder. Still 1/4 million off the 150 milestone, so the climb forward now will be slow unless we can find more pootas to help the cause.

The unknowns

Well, RunAwayNow123 is my boss, and Buck is a friend of mine. I figured hey, might as well get as many people I could to fold. They're keepin pretty stable numbers it looks like. I figured every bit might help.

okay, I just added. Hope this helps

volleyca Oct 1, 2005 12:14 pm

a thought- maybe Randy would put this thread in the flyer talk email. That should get a lot more FTers

Lehava Oct 1, 2005 12:43 pm

HI. Just found this thread, can I suggest posting a "what is this about and where are we at and what do you need to do" post so that those of us finding this new dont have to go through the 16 pages, please. Thanks. Will share this info with some friends.

welcome!

every cpu processing helps! FYI, we were in a January issue of talkmail, and it did help. But another one.... and i agree about not having to go through 16 pages of dated material would help. I'd done a short "why you should fold" posting a long time ago, but that had no activity on it and isn't sticky. So, anyone got any ideas? @:-)

How about you engage our illustrius forum moderator (perhaps by PM) for suggestions on the best way to provide the important information to anyone interested in learning about the folding process. There are a few options on how to do this, and I am sure our moderator will have some helpful thoughts too.

How do I check that the WU are uploading?

You can check the log file (a text file) in your folding director. At he end of the WU processing you should see something like this (bolding is mine):
