So that makes the last 2 posters new folders?? Just heard from Cateybeth, and she's back in too. I added a few new machines, so this might just pick up steam. Don't know that postion 1 or 2 in team rank is in jeopardy, but you never know. Maybe I'll have to take the IS boys out for drinks one night, and hundreds will then by folding??!! :D Ya, right!

Today I've added 4 fairly fast CPUs to our FT team efforts -- they're slogging away as I'm posting this. Tomorrow I hope to add 2 or 3 more fast machines if I can get past my remote location's firewall.

Yessir! It took forever but I folded my first protein today (my handle there is the same as my handle here). I've got 4 threads running sporadically so hopefully that will help the team out. I just looked at the stats and I've finally showed up down there at the bottom (http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...teamnum=39124).

I've added 6 machines in the past week or so ... same username here and there.
i'm up to 47 on the FT team list!

by the way ... we can check out progress on this cool website from another FAH team (extreme over-clockers)
Check out our team in more detail

OK, I plugged in my work machine.

DotnetWFU, great find on the site. I had posted a pretty cool one months ago that I thought was tops, but this is fantastic. ^ ^ Thanks. Bookmark it guys!

Saw your machines before I read your post here, and wondered who you were! With 6 seperate machines you'll be able to track them individually, but give thought to renaming all 6 on the same user name to combine your points. C'mon, somebody has got to give FTUser a run for the money. Saw that you are living in Windward O'ahu - paradise! We just finished a vacation in the islands, and stayed at Turtle Bay on the North Shore. Loved going to Halaiwa, snorkeling nearby, it was great! Knowing that there is now someone there folding away for us, makes the memory all the better. :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay on our lovely island. Too many visitors think that Waikiki, Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center are all O'ahu has to offer, and so they miss out on the most beautiful places in all Hawai'i.

Alas, I had to withdraw justin_thyme_carillon and justin_thyme_VAIO_studio from the folding project. Both are installed in a digital sound studio. The Carillon is a dedicated music production computer that runs a sampler program, GigaStudio Orchestra, at the kernel-level, below Windows XP even -- and it crashed to BSOD a few times while running the folding program in the background. (It's not a problem with the folding program; GigaStudio is just a very touchy program that "doesn't play well with others." ;) )

As for the VAIO laptop, it triggers MIDI sequences that "play" the GigaStudio instruments on the Carillon. The folding program works the VAIO's processor so intensively that its cooling fan runs at full-throttle constantly. It then becomes too noisy for the studio environment.

But that leaves me running one very fast processor, two moderately-fast processors, and one "slow-but-steady" older computer, all grinding away at those pesky proteins. I prefer to keep them individually identified so I can track their relative performance parameters more easily . . . I don't care about scoring points.

Thanks for promoting this project. I am trying to enlist the psychology departments at two local community colleges; if they join that will add at least three dozen additional processors to Hawai'i's contribution.

Aloha,

I see that I'm about to be passed by spampeg. Well done spampeg.

I wonder how long I'll be able to hold on to position #7 with all of these hotshots coming up... :D ^

Errh...hmmm, did you say three DOZEN?? That would be a major coup! Be sure to keep us in the loop on that!

Just added another three PC's at the office and changed from my FT handle to the company one, only fair - it's their notebaok in any case!! Will be under Red Roo Group now :D

ozmerish Aug 29, 2005 8:47 pm

Added another at work - and decided I'll keep my notebook under my FT handle.

Was looking at the FT team and noticed a lot of inactive processors on the board...

Hello Fellow Folders

Steve, Winky, FTUser, Jeffo, Birdstrike and all others. I've finally joined your forums here to maybe, I don't know, be social or something!

Not to worry Birdstrike, I hope to pass FTUser as well <grin>. Well, ok -- it'll be awhile, but I'm working on it!

I must admit, I'm only a FlyerTalk.com member because of the folding team, which I was introduced to by one of your members. I'm an amateur (not even a "student" pilot, but only an hour or two per week. MS Flight Sim keeps me happy the rest of the time. Does that count as a FlyerTalk'er?
:)
