I added 3 more high-end Linux boxes into the mix today.

Looks like the next goal will be breaking top 400 followed by top 1% (currently around 365).

Now that should add some WU completion. 1% here we come! Well Done.

Just added my home P4 to the mix - around 14 minutes per frame when idle.

Since you mention the stats, here is the best site for our team & individual stats. Try the Java version, then graphing, to do projected numbers of selected individuals or teams. http://statsman.info/folding2stats/html/39124.html

In case you'd rather just see the results in text format, here ya go! And welcome to all the new members - it's a great feeling when i look at this & don't recognize so many!! Newbies; please post & identify yourself!! ;)

As a quick aside, can anyone explain the rather odd stats for "Stuff"? Huge number of w/u relative to score. The average seems to be 25 points/work unit??

After only a few days I seem to be moving right along! I've got a few more computers to add.

My question for those of you that install the non graphical version of the program. Do you ever run into problems with the data uploading? I have a friend who has an office in which he can load this on to about 20 computers, yet he is concerned that their firewall might block the upload. Do we know what ports they use to upload? Perhaps using the "use the internet explorer" settings would help in this circumstance?

NM Feb 26, 2005 6:21 am

Uploads and downloads seem to use HTTP. If you use a web proxy, then tell it to use Internet Explorer settings (assuming you use IE).

jeffo Feb 26, 2005 9:39 pm

on the non graphical mode... when it is downloaded and configured, assuming the run at startup is set to yes, is that is all that need be done? Is there a way to check to see if it is processing and sending packets?

I would guess anyone on the road that is installing this uses this method, and I have a few computers at some remote offices I can install, but just want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Sorry for all the questions, but hopefully they can help me and others in the future.

Thanks!

The quickest way to see if it is working properly is to look at the Log file in the Folding@Home program directory. Since I have three PC's at home running it as a service, I have shared out the F@H directory/folder on each of the PC's and use Folding@Home Logstats tool to show the status of all three PC's at the same time.

Short lived fame

Thanks, but I feel it will be short lived. It's been neck & neck for a while, and my whole program is based on the unstable base of computers accessible to others & hostile programs. Plus, SNA Flyer & Jeffo have been coming on strong. I think the last info from statsman said I'd be overtaken by SNA flyer in a month. But, who cares??!! We're soon to break out of the 400's into the 300's, and a little rivalry will help! Going gets real tough around 200 level - serious teams there...

I've been lucky to have had access to some idle work computers, and some quick installs at family members houses. It's been a fun game watching this all "unfold". :) Wish our group could get some more people though!

winkydink Mar 14, 2005 12:34 pm

Will today be the day we break 400? After that, #368 gets us into the top 1%.

SteveinSTL Mar 14, 2005 6:53 pm

prediction beyond top 1%

Guys

Doing a random search & estimation of the teams ahead of us, I estimate we will stop further advance in the 140-180 ranking range. I'm basing that on simply the weekly total column, nothing else. Given enough time, it is only the current & extrapolated future earnings that matter. Current position will be eroded based on this. I see only a handful of teams behind us doing more than our 38K weekly totals, so looking mostly forward, it seems there are 140-180 teams that now are producing more than that.

Anyone else see this differently? Another prediction? Anyone want to predict the following milestones: Top 300, 250, 200, maybe even 150 teams?

This is of course all based on stats remaining constant - no significant growth or erosion in member base & production, etc. If we were only to add Birdstrike's cousin.... ^ Jeffo & SNA Flyer, got any recruits? Winkydink? Look at it this way - 99.9% of FT'rs are still not folding! ;)

Hey, if we break the top 1%, think we can get another Talkmail listing, or does that make us a pest?

Keep up the great work guys. ^ ^ ^

birdstrike Mar 14, 2005 7:37 pm

As I write this, we are team #398! ^

I think breaking into the top 1% should get us a mention not only in TalkMail, but a feature in InsideFlyer!

Seeing that I only have two relativly new machines out of the four I contribute, it seems that we can do a lot on a shoestring. Perhaps I'll add another 512K to ms. birdstrikes machine :)
