World Community Grid - Team FlyerTalk

World Community Grid - Team FlyerTalk (I wonder if we should start a new thread titled something like this, plus "idle processor time?" to differentiate where this is going now and include a link to this thread? I'll leave it up to the Team Captain, Kremmen...)

I joined 23 Feb 2008, after over three FTE years of computing for The Grid. Four of us now, and my desktop has been running continuously since Feb 23.

So, who are we?

  1. Kremmen
  2. Fly4SCUBA
  3. jnestour (but... apparently inactive)
  4. JDiver

Today's team stats:

Totals:
Current Members . . . . . . 4 (#3,826)
Retired Members . . . . . . 0
All-Time Members . . . . . . 4
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) (Rank) 1:301:08:35:01 (#4,005)
Points Generated (Rank) . . . . . . . . . . . .421,383 (#4,704)
Results Returned (Rank) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .952 (#5,905)

And, of course, boincstats, for all of us using BOINC.

E pluribus unum! ;)

Hmmm, question: Can I somehow make the adjustment so BOINC will use my D virtual drive, and not C:?

I thought I might as well do it. That way we exist across a couple of BOINC projects and our stats are added up on boincstats.

I have not read this whole thread but here are my stats:

Project Total credit Average credit Since
SETI@home 105,106 92 15 May 1999
proteins@home 3,073 0 10 May 2007

I do not belong to any group and am willing to support the FT gang if someone sends me a PM.

The Linux version just finds all its files relative to the current directory when the program is started, so you just cd to where you put the files before running the program. I don't know if the same applies to the Windoze version.

And, yeah, I guess we could start another thread. We could even spell "processor" correctly!

Another new project has been added to World Community Grid, this time to try to find better breeds of rice.

So, if you have any unused CPU cycles on your computer(s), this might be a good way to use them.
