I just got a new core-duo based laptop. Is it worth configuring the SMP client for just that?

Absolutely if you are going to leave the laptop on much of the time. I have an SMP client working on a Core Duo Extreme with Linux as the OS and it does a large workunit each day. Im not sure about how much memory is used, that machine has a lot of RAM, but Im not sure it needs it.

Yes, and the projections look good.

The team should pass 2 others before losing another step.

After that - nobody in the rear view mirror for 3 months.

I should have more clusters by then :)

You guys are good! I am barely managing to keep 4 lowly single processors working all the time!

Will keep chipping in my peanuts every now and then!

Nah - you can thank the red tape I work with and lazy-bum application analysts who take 3 months between purchasing the capital equipment and actually kicking off the project. :D :D

Funny thing is that despite being in the IT industry I don't own a computer. The ontracts that I have, have given me a laptop to work with. (pieces of sh**).

I was starting to think about getting myself a coputer of my own and one of the thoughts I actually had was that a better laptop could help out with F@H!

But anyway decided against it for now. :)

Back down to #143, but no one else should pass us in the next few months.

We're back up to #141! How are you guys checking the scores of teams ranked >100?

Plato90s Aug 17, 2007 1:35 pm

The official site updates more often, but this site hosted by EOC is much better on detail/analysis - probably because the EOC team is on top of the rankings. :D

This is the page which lists FlyerTalkers' relative position within the 101-200 block.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=39124

Note that when EOC does its ranking, they don't count the 2 "default" teams which is why the ranking is different from what the F@H official site shows.

I hope I don't lower FT's ranking

My macbook pro has been plugging away and is almost finished with its first nugget of data.

But as the computer is only on when I'm home, it's taken a while. Is there any way to request a smaller work unit?

Really hope that i'm not inadvertently lowering FT's ranking by only installing F@H on my one little laptop

Every bit helps, and there's no way to lower the team's rating by contributing.

FlyerTalks are at #140 now.

It'll be 2008 before we break into the top 100, but at least the climb is resuming.

I have a dual core extreme iMac with 4 gigs of RAM on the way and may be ordering some dual core HP Itanium workstations ;)

I wonder if our IT guys would notice if I put it on our 2000 core cluster? It isnt fully utilized yet......
