I wonder which is most efficient for scores, lots of small WU's or fewer large WU's?

I can't think of a reason why it would make a difference -- earning fewer points at a fast rate versus earning bigger chunks more slowly. I would prefer the former, just because I get impatient waiting for my score to change. :)

best hotels

Most consistantly offerring a business center with at least one free computer are: Comfort Inns, Wingate Inns, Holiday Inns, Sheratons, Hilton/Hilton Garden Inn. Worst so far, other than obvious budget choices, are : Hampton, virtually all Marriott properties (they have them but charge for usage, and are well protected), other high end properties.

Tonight I tried to install at a hotel in the city I'm in, and it said it was already installed (by another F@H team!). I decided to honor their earlier scoop, and left well enough alone!

Good luck! ^ ^

Perhaps because a 600 points WU does not twice as long as a 316 point WU. And a 316 point WU does not take 5 times as long as a 63 point WU.

For example, my current 316 point WU was estimated to take about 40 hours. I know my previous 600 point WU took a touch over 2 days, maybe up to 55 hours. The 63 point WU I just finished took about 11 hours.

So if points are awarded at a faster rate for larger WU's, then it may be better to more patient??

You CAN go too far when it comes to distributed computing:

Geez, I though my home office was bad with 3 Windows, 1 Mac, 1 linux and 1 BSD box.

OnAMileHigh, What are you running F@H on? You have a great score for 2 CPUs

SNA_Flyer Jan 27, 2005 11:20 am

I just signed up... I've got some spare servers here at the office I think I'm going to fire up for this.

Birdstrike,
At home I am ruuning F@H on a P4 3Ghz machine with 1024MB RAM. At work F@H runs on a P4 2GHz machine with 512MB RAM. I think that the key to my high score is that both machines run 24/7/365.

Percussionking, seems like you figured it out, as you now have 17 machines that contributed to your numbers this week?! ^ That outstrips my 14... apparently I need another business trip soon? Well, there's a hotel at LGA churning away for the cause, and I got to MCI this week.

Have any of the inactive members decided to stop? We have several originals that now have had zero production for a few weeks.

Be sure to check out the statsman graphs posted last week - they are now my new favorite way to check up on our collective status.

Well my PII 800MHz old clunker finally finished its first WU (241 points). Only took it nearly 4 weeks to crunch!

Dorms at UNT have computer labs for residents. No, I'm not a resident. No, they do not seem to care as long as you have a student ID.
