Telia S: No relationship

3 SE: 382 ms ping, 8 MBPS down, 3 MBPS up

My phone always defaults to Tele2. Not sure why. :(

In Edinburgh: on EE LTE with iPhone 5s. 309 ms ping; 25 Mbps down; 1 Mbps up.

In Belgium airport.

BASE: nada
Mobistar: throttled to 0.1 MBPS up and down
Proxmius: 3 down, 1 up... But has issues sticking with Proximus. Keeps going back to Mobistar.

Glad I'm leaving this country in an hour!

Because of cellular internet speeds? Seriously?!

Regards

My Wife called me from Switzerland and during our conversation she said that she is seeing speeds in the range of 25Mbps Down and 5Mbps Up.

Honestly, I was happy with the 2G speeds for my needs, but having the LTE Speeds is a nice perk even if it is only for 2 months.

My ability to get international/roaming data within a regular priced T Mobile plan is HUGE and this unlimited high speed summer in Europe is fantastic. It's enough that I'm seriously considering migrating all my family lines over to T Mobile. I've been with ATT since it merged with Cingular (Maybe 15-20 years?).

They are currently offering some decent family plans...

Four lines, each with 6GB of data, for $120 -- each additional line is $20.
Four lines, each with 10GB of data, for $160 -- each additional line is $30.

And remember that almost any music or video streaming app does not go against your monthly data allowance.

I had trouble using T-Mobile in Seoul last week. The data was either not working or very slow. Once I had rebooted my iPhone, it works but then it wasn't working again.
Turned off LTE or switched LTE to data only does not help much.

Meanwhile in Japan, it works flawlessly.

I noticed the Simple Choice tablet plan is only $20 plus tax.

Is it possible to get a tablet plan nano SIM and use it in an iPhone? In other words, use it for free data in other countries without text/voice service? An online chat with T-Mobile says yes. The only recent discussion I saw about this was several years ago. For example, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/21704501-post179.html

Flew to ATH with. 90 minutes connection in ZHR where Swisscom 3G got about 20 Mbps.

In Athens, center of city, 5 bars Cosmote GR is only getting about 2 Mbps up and down.

Manually switched to GR vf and I get either 3G or LTE and top speed is about 15-20 Mbps down but only 1-3 Mbps up.

Very high pings on both, in fact latency fails in the Speed Test Net app a few times.

In my hotel room right by Monastiraki Square, I get about 11 Mbps down on GR vf. Yet when I tether, the most I'm getting is about 2 Mbps.

I tried to buy. SIM card from Cosmote but they were out.

Going to the islands now and it will probably be no better.

Hotel wifi is under 1 Mbps.

I ordered several phone SIMs and one tablet SIM. They all came in the same packaging but one of the "phone" numbers was very different than the other (similar) ones. That was one that I originally put into a phone and it did not work. Couldn't activate. I then put it in the ipad and it worked fine. So I think I can say from this experience that a tablet SIM doesn't work on a phone.

The SIM comes in three sizes (all in the same package), including nano, FYI.

Have you tried powering down and back up? I found that helped in UK.

Yup. It worked as of a few months ago and you also get sms, just no voice. I think I activated mine with a tablet (Nexus 7) IMEI? But it was almost always used in an android/iPhone.

Follow up: very next morning I tweeted T Mobile Help. I was using DM but while waiting, I switched back to Cosmote and I was getting 24/14!

And it carried through to tethered devices.

Not sure what changed but was happy about it.

Then I went to Mykonos, where the hotel is a bit east and above the center of Mykonos town.

Was only getting 3 bars in the lobby but still decent speeds. Much better in the town.

In the room though, I was only getting about 2-3 Mbps. Switched to GR vf again and got about 15/4.
