It's included in all of their new plans, or you can add it on to an old plan for $10 a month.

Better yet I was flying on Delta from CDG-SEA and was texting my Mother free of charge using GOGO Texting and was so cool while sipping a drink from 33,000 feet(:

My understanding is that the New North American Simple choice plans don't allow any corporate / affinity discounts. It may be worth it to you in order to access the new features.

When it would drop to 2G of course web browsing was slow, but not unmanageable. Whatsapp worked like a charm anywhere and everywhere I went, no matter which country I was in.

All in all, thus far, I would count T-Mobile's Simple Choice Plan roaming global data coverage as a WIN.

I had no issues with data in Mumbai, but in Trivandrum it was VERY problematic. IT would connect to voice providers but no data. On previous trips, I found that turning off LTE fixed the issue, no such luck this time. I'd estimate that my iPhone only had data about 10% of the time while in Trivandrum. Once I was back in Mumbai it worked like a charm again.

This service is still the #1 reason my family uses T-Mobile. We travel extensively internationally and this has been a lifesaver. I just wish they'd bump it up to 256k speeds like Google Fi.

Jim

the $10/plan add-on should work for corporate/affinity discounted plans

HELP Needed by those visiting this thread

Please edit the wiki if you see other networks working that others missed in Simple Choice valid countries.

Also if you see a network working with LTE access we didn't list, please also edit the wiki.

If you are timid to edit the Wiki - that's fine - just post a reply to the thread and someone else (like myself) can edit the wiki.

THANKS!

My iPhone 6S Plus displayed Telenor LTE in Oslo, Bergen, Alesund and some of the larger towns in the fjords.

I too had data connection problems from time to time in Kerala even with LTE turned off. I found that powering down the phone and powering it back on again got me connected to GPRS or EDGE data service.

Currently in Kuala Lumpur, I usually turn off LTE and select 3G/2G on my Note 5 for better reliability but here data does not work unless I select the option including 4GLTE.

Connecting to "My Maxis," have updated the Wiki accordingly.

I've got a couple of unlocked iPhones and planned to sign up for Simple Choice so spouse and I could have data for month in Europe. Want to email, text, Whatsapp calls, and do moderate internet browsing (news, flyertalk, etc). No streaming. Would the throttled speed drive us crazy? I have zero sense of how slow 128 is.

The speed is perfectly fine. It's n:ot the fastest but it's been more than adequate for anything I've ever needed.

It also depends where you go... I've been in quite a few places where I definitely was seeing >128kbps.

BigFlyer Jun 14, 2016 8:30 am

I was surprised how much I could get done with the 128kbps.

Whatsapp calls were fine - used it to call my wife who was travelling with me, rather than paying the 20 cents per minute (x2) to make a regular call. Even was able to upload videos to Whatsapp without it taking forever.

Surprisingly, the slowest thing was webpages - even mobile optimized ones.
