My neighbor called me from Riyadh as he got an email that his alarm was going off and wanted to know if would I go over to check on his house and turn it off.

He said that he was calling over the Wi-Fi calling and that it worked great from his hotel room and that DATA (part of the free Intl DATA) was faster than in other countries that he has used it, he was not sure if he just got lucky or if the throttling is not working right in Saudi.

I believe he said he had to change from Mobily (or something like that) to Saudi Telecom for his DATA to work.

Since I got the iPhone 6S, I have observed better data coverage in the U.S. compared to the iPhone 5S. For instance, areas where the LTE would drop to 3G, EDGE or no data service, I've been getting constant LTE speed.

Too bad I didn't have this phone just a couple weeks ago. I would like to have seen if my experience would have differed.

Have folks had better or worse data roaming experience when they got a new phone?

Band 12 LTE is probably part of your answer.

This could be good news for domestic use:

Now if Google Fi would support iPhones ...

I would much rather they focus on building regular 2g and 3g overage for the full country before they worry about low frequency LTE.

Is that band specific to domestic T-Mobile or used by other providers globally?

North America. Mostly Tmobile in the US. AT&T may be using it in some areas. But not much right now. Canada and may be a couple of other countries in NA use it as well.

And I would completely disagree with you.

I'd rather they only setup LTE, and do absolutely nothing else.

Experian had a data breach where 15 million people could be impacted and included data from T-Mobile Post Pay/financing applicants from September 1, 2013 through September 16, 2015.

More info:

http://www.t-mobile.com/landing/expe...reach-faq.html

If you signed up with T-Mobile for the global roaming after it was announced October 9, 2013, then your info could be part of the breach.

What's not mentioned is that ProtectMyID is a department of Experian.

Where do you see this?

T-Mobile hasn't run our credit in over 13 years. :)

Ah, sorry. To clarify: "the hacker acquired the records of approximately 15 million people, including new applicants requiring a credit check for service or device financing from September 1, 2013 through September 16, 2015.". This would include those who were enticed to sign up with T-Mobile as new customers for the included Global Roaming released on October 9, 2013.

Slightly OT but since we're on the subject of the recent hack, some suggestions for those who might have been on the hit list:

1. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action is totally FREE and each individual can secure the credit reports from each of the credit agencies once a year, FOC.

2. This site explains 'credit freeze'...http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles...it-freeze-faqs. This essential prevents anyone from checking your credit until you 'unlock the freeze'. The unlock procedure is not painless....you need to call each credit agency with a PIN password and depending on the state, be charged anywhere from $0.00 to $10 per unlock. You can unlock for a duration, for a specific vendor/bank, etc....

Just got to Canada, was getting voice and messages but no data. I am using an ATT model LG G3 (D850). I set up the APN at home using fast.tmobile.com. Tech support didn't have an answer right away, thought I have to say he was fantastic trying to solve it. I ended up reentering the APN, but using epc.tmobile.com, and that fixed it. I am getting 4g, havnt run a speed test yet.

New to TMO.

Recently ditched ATT and switched to TMO with my unlocked Samsung GS4 phone.
On a recent trip to China, I found that texting using WhatsApp worked fine, but not so for WeChat. WeChat worked only some times. Most of the time it didn’t.

Additionally, very often my phone would try to reboot itself and got hung up at the point where the ATT globe showed up. From that point on I had to yank out the battery and reboot. Sometimes the reboot was successful, and sometimes not.

This went on many many times. Later on in Seoul, S. Korea. Same thing happened.

Now I have returned home, everything seemed to be working fine so far (first day).

Was I suppose to change some settings while in China and S. Korea? Please advise. I want to get a little background to the problem before I called TMO. Thanks.
