WOW is all I can say.

I am flying on an F reward ticket but my BKK-ICN leg is in C as there is NO F class onthis segment. ICN-LAX is in F in OZ. Would I be allowed to use the F lounge in BKK?. I will be arriving BKK from Phuket and have a long wait at BKK.

I kindof doubt you will be admitted. They scan your outbound BP and their display says yay or nay. You are only entitled to the Silk lounge. You could politely ask as that can work wonders in Thailand. Explain that you really paid for F but there are no seats.

I just tried the TG First lounge.....VERY nice....

I took the London cab service to the airport....VERY roomy....excellent for 3-4 travellers because of two back seats and two pulldown seats....adjustable air con & fans, stereo, and very good careful driver with a smooth ride perfect for reading all your newspapers and documents on the trip (the driver takes care of tollways and all luggage).....Baht 800 (tel:081-777-2-777).... a very nice non-stressful start for your trip....

first, a gold vested attendant escorts you from curbside from Entry One to the First Class check-in which is HUGE....like a nice modern airy hotel lobby.....

then after check-in, you are taken to the departure tax counter (actually the same one for business class) but no waiting....and then through departure immigration...very quick....

then downstairs to a little tandem 2 seater first class golf cart (its a narrow one that fits that small corridor running the entire length of the business class lounge)....the little golf cart takes you through the business class lounge...and you view the business class lounge denizens like a night zoo safari....

the cart drops you at the lounge....very nice....I had a large TV room to myself....the smoked salmon, pate, and shrimp appetizers were very nice,...the tiny tiramisus and cappachinos were delicious, and the small fish maw soups in individual ceramic elephant warmers very good....

the slumber rooms are not yet furnished with beds..but the shower rooms and the bathrooms VERY nice....

there is a full service bar, a separate dining room, a separate smoking room.... four individual internet stations...meeting rooms....wireless internet access....very nice indeed....MUCH larger than the old First class lounges at Don Muang....

unfortunately the TG Royal Orchid Spa is not yet finished across the hall from the First Class lounge, so no complimentary massages available yet...but the attendant said this will come soon... (before Christmas??)

Thanks for your report. I can't wait to test the lounge myself early december on my way to FRA.
Do you know if wine is available in the lounge ( as opposed to the biz class lounge where there is no wine...0 and if theys erve Dom Perignon as well.

On the way to my Gate in Concourse C, I dropped by one of the TG Royal Silk lounges in Concourse C....very nice decor and view of the planes....the food selection is rather limited (after having just gorged in the First Class lounge)....only fruits, and all kinds of carb snacks...(no salmon or shrimp)

the lounge attendant said that the other Silk lounge across the hall will open within days....(it certainly looks finished..)

she also said that the two TG lounges way over in Concourse E will open today in the afternoon!

however, it wil still be a week or so until the TG Royal Orchid Spa will open across from the First Class lounge....

well, it looks like all TG lounges will be open VERY soon (the TG lounges dont feel so crowded like they did a few weeks ago) ^

2 Royal Silks in Concourse E
2 Royal Silks in Concourse C
1 main Royal Silk in Concourse D
1 First lounge in Concourse D
1 Royal Orchid Spa in Concourse D
1 arrival lounge
1 domestic lounge (Concourse A)

does anyone know if the large entertainment zone in Concourse G (next to the dayroom building) has opened yet??

I doubt they will let you but you can always ask.

I arrived at BKK from LHR in F last week and was flying on to SGN in J, as there is no F on the flight. I asked in the UK would I be able to use the F lounge and was told No, Royal Silk only. However, I was met at the aircraft on arrival and escorted straight to the F lounge. I wasn't going to argue.

I agree it's a nice lounge with decent showers and was very quiet when I was there. They don't have any Dom, it's standard Moet.

Leaving on SQ a few days ago the J lounge connected to it was absolutely packed so I went for a walk and found the nice Royal Silk Lounge on the C Concourse on the left as you walk down, which had recently opened. This had the same food and drink as the larger lounge but was virtually deserted. ^ There is another Royal Silk Lounge across the corridor which they told me would be opening 'in the next 2 weeks', along with the First Spa Lounge on D.

The main difference is that MAN Flyer arrived in F and Retired FF will be arriving in C.

Per *A rules all you need is a "same day" boarding pass for the given class of service. If you have your ICN-LAX BP and it's for the same date then you should be able to get in. You may end up in a bit of a gray area here as IIRC BKK-ICN leaves just after midnight so when you are in the lounge your ICN-LAX BP will be for the next day.

EDIT: This may not actually be true... see post below. I know that I've seen "same day" in reference to F lounge access, but could not find the reference on the *A site.

This is a standard *A lounge access rule. All you need is a same day F BP and you can use the lounge on departure and arrival (in transit). I do this all the time with the UA F lounge in LAX when I arrive on the NRT-LAX flight.

Thanks I did NOT know this. I am assuming you meant BKK-ICN (and not BKK-LAX) in your response!! My flight for BKK-ICN leaves at 11:50 P.M., so the BP for ICN-LAX will be for the following day and as per the rules, I may not be allowed, but worth a try.

Where would I find the *A rule that you are referrng to in order to better orient myself and perhaps even mention if necessary to TG at BKK?
Thanks for all the replies.

I may need to eat my words here. In the past I know that I read "same day" but the only reference that I can now find is this:

Customers who present an International First Class boarding pass, regardless of the Star Alliance carrier they fly, have lounge access. They, and one guest, are welcome to visit first class lounges or any other members' departure lounges when departing on a Star Alliance flight. Note: AC, BD, OS and SK do not have international first class service.
It's definitely ambiguous, but you will have an international F BP and you will be departing on a *A flight... just not the same BP

Here's a link to the info on the *A site:

http://www.staralliance.com/star_all...ge_access.html
