FAQ: Royal First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa information and access.
Thought with the number of FCL and Spa questions littering this board it might be worth making a sticky with all the available information and also provide a place for members to ask their questions. Please let me know if you think it is a good idea and please let me know if any of the information I have included is wrong or if you feel anything else needs to be added.

On leaving the massage you will be left with an overall sense of well-being and total relaxation.

Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 minutes) – This is a great massage for passengers who are stressed, work at the computer too much or don't relax well. Neck and shoulder problems from routine activities are among the most common area for massage therapists to address. Using specific techniques the therapist will work to loosen tight muscles around the neck and shoulders whilst simultaneously assessing how much tension is held in the body and how best to release it. You will board your flight feeling more relaxed and a little lighter on the shoulders.

Relaxing Hand Massage (30 minutes) – Are your hands tired from all that clicking, driving, messaging and typing? If so, how about offering them a break and giving them a massage they truly deserve? By massaging the major channels/meridians of the arms and reflex points in the hands, this deep hand massage is designed to thoroughly release tension that accumulates in the hands and arms from our daily tasks. finishing with warm towels for both arms encourage muscle relaxation; this treatment can help to deliver a total sense of relaxation.

Relaxing Foot Massage (30 minutes) – Let's help prepare your feet for your onward journey, by taking the weight of them and giving them a relaxing massage that they truly deserve. Foot massage is a well-known relaxation therapy to help take care of tired feet. With the gentle touch of the therapists' hands, a sense of overall relaxation is induced. Deeper pressure by the fingers will help to stimulate your vital organs.

Spa access rules:

TG F departure = F spa access

*A F departures = No spa access

TG C departures = C spa access

*A C departures = No spa access

TG F arrival connecting to TG C = C spa access, however some people have been offered F spa access in this scenario

No guest are allowed regardless of class of travel

Q: Is it possible to book the spa treatment in advance?

A: No. You can book at First class check-in, at the FCL or the Spa itself - they will indicate the approx waiting time if more than a few minutes.

I have had some PMs from newer members who are confused by some of the abbreviations on this post. If you need help understanding them, FT has a great tool for looking up their meanings in the FT glossary.

Oh, I would have swapped SQ and BR around. I was thankful for the BR lounge at 2am the other morning, but didn’t think it was a patch on SQ’s offering.

I'd also rate the SQ lounge higher but they are both good.

Really? - I went to the SQ lounge and to me it feels quite "industrial".. No privacy, small and crowded. I actually ended up going back to the TG lounge in D - although I may have been unlucky

Depends upon what you're looking for. In regards food and drink SQ is my choice. Plumbing, showers, funkiness and some privacy carries the BR lounge.

They other day I was in SQ and when it started to get busy I hopped over to BR and relaxed, had a shower, grabbed their final coconut (SQ has a fridge of them - big plus for SQ) and then headed to my gate. But I mostly had food and drink in SQ because it's more to my liking.

Well, could be - I have never ventured to the BR lounge to be honest. Always gone for the nearest to my gate.. But maybe the main thing that put me off SQ at the time was that they did not have champagne
That said, I try to fly oneworld as much as possible, and much prefer the CX lounge in BKK (outside the time of BA10 departing that is!)

Another point of experience related to the entry and treatment rules for the F lounge and the Royal Orchid Spa, as experienced two days ago and this morning. I arrived last evening on SYD-BKK TG472 and asked the buggy driver that I be taken to the F Lounge. The only difference in this case of F>C on two consecutive days is that no staff escorted me through security but there as staff lady who greeted me after I completed security checks and took me directly to the F lounge. Near 1 am, I departed the F lounge and lounge-hopped to EVA and the D Concourse Miracle lounge from 1 am to 6 am before my BKK-HKG TG600 flight at 0800 hrs.. (I was part of the group that was downgraded to a 777-300 from F 747-400.) Anyway, I was the first person to enter the spa at exactly 6:00 am. Upon entering, I handed my "C" board pass to the attendant and asked for the foot massage. She seemed to gaze at a screen and asked me if I would like to have both the foot massage and then the neck and back massage! I was puzzled because we know that isn't the case if going strictly by the rules (and, by the way, a line of about six people had built behind me within seconds). I'm unsure why I was offered a full hour of treatments (and it actually went a full 6t0 minutes for both treatments). Just as a point of context, I had departed BKK-SYD in F two days prior and experienced the Touch of Silk one hour body massage.

Even more interesting, after I received my morning treatments, I entered the Royal Silk business class lounge reception area at about 7:15 am after lounging the post-treatment lounge where I was served ginger tea and some sweet snacks. This Royal Silk Lounge is almost directly across from the spa and the reception connects/feeds into the C with a small secured door into the F lounges. The attendant scanned my "C" boarding pass, opened the frosted glass door, and directed me into the F lounge without blinking an eye. This appeared to not be a judgement call on her part; the computer seemed to provide the appropriate course of action, and she merely complied. I thought it was strange, but I didn't hesitate to enter the F side versus the C side. So there you have it: another case of rules that seem to be applied most of the time but not all the time.

I think this is the key. TG has made arrangements for those involuntarily downgraded so you get the full F experience on the ground, including the spa. This won't be the case in ordinary circumstances where you transfer from F to regular C.

Will I get access to Thai F lounge?

Hi all,

I have the following 2 flights on the same day.

1. HND-BKK in F - THAI TG661
2. BKK-DPS in J - THAI TG431

On my itinerary for the TG431 it said that I am in J class, but recently Thai Switched the TG431 route from their A359-900 to their Boeing 747 which have First class seatings and I was able to change my seat. My question is will I have access to the F lounge on arrival even though my itinerary said I am in J instead of F?

if you stay in transit, you can access F lounge (as you arrive in F) but you only can get a 1/2 hour massage as you leave in J (even on F seat, it counts as J)
But you can always ask, whether you can get a 1 hour massage...

Great, thanks for the info BinSabai.

I think what I might do is call aeroplan closer to the date and have them change my J to reflect my F seat if that's possible.

I do not think that this will help as the experienced FCL staff know well, that the TG flight to Denpasar has no real F passengers
there are only half a dozen flights left with real F
But as I said, FCL access is no problem as you arrive in F and if you politely ask, they might also grant you the 1 hour massage as spa is not very busy outside peak hours

Food @ FCL

I know the FCL doesnt have stellar food, but is there any dish that anyone really recommends? Have 12hrs-ish between flights and planning to head into BKK for food, but would like to sample some stuff at FCL too!
