The site keeps crashing. And in between full-blown crashes, getting odd messages on blank pages along the lines of "access denied" or "page does not exist."

speedster1978 Dec 11, 2008 4:02 pm

Was just down... now back up... anyone else?

Really slow. Think dialup.

It seems to be faster today, but that could also just be that it's early AM here and very few people are online. :)

Just gotten used to it being slow. I don't think a reboot will help it, I think the database backend is the slowdown, it is fast right now with less traffic but during the daytime goes very slow.

Kiwi Flyer Dec 18, 2008 3:40 pm

FT has been slow today :(

Firewind Dec 18, 2008 10:41 pm

What's it to ya?

I wonder what "...System Generally Slow" means to you.

Do you experience the following? In any particular combination?

To me it means, sometimes:
  • not getting email alerts re new posts for a half a day, sometimes a day, then getting a slug of them, bunched up over about a 20-minute period
  • the FlyerTalk window takes a long time to open from the the email alert's link
  • the content takes a long time to populate (usually associated with an active video advert panel that must finish filling before the content arrives)
  • lately, typing away in the message box, but no letters appear until I stop typing, then they catch up
  • getting the Database Error window
  • (rarely) the IE window saying that it cannot display the webpage

"Sometimes..." because these don't always occur at once. When they do, they usually are obviously associated with the site. But when it's not obvious, I'll go over to another window to see if the symptoms are there, and clear the cache. Then if it's still happening in FlyerTalk but not in other sites, I at least have some boundaries on the problem, and will go back to real life, or to play on TripAdvisor, or post on this thread. :D

Again, any of this familiar?

Kiwi Flyer Jan 6, 2009 1:37 pm

Same here. More database errors.

JuCo Jan 6, 2009 6:11 pm

Hi everyone,
I've got a report from the tech team. This morning’s outage was caused by a hardware failure between our core switch and central storage system. We worked closely with our hardware vendors to diagnose and resolve the problem. We are working with our vendor to add redundancy to this system in order to prevent this problem from occurring again. We will be scheduling a downtime in the next few weeks to implement this fix. Thank you for your patience.

goalie Jan 14, 2009 10:55 am

crawling along and also getting database errors at 9:56am pst :(

Got the Database Error once when clicking from p.1 to p.2 on the Southwest Rapid Rewards board, this afternoon.

GoingAway Feb 23, 2009 3:58 pm

It's moving for the most part, but I've had multiple database hours over the past hour. :td:

N965VJ Feb 23, 2009 5:04 pm

A few database errors and general slowness the past few hours here.

FlyinHawaiian Feb 23, 2009 5:11 pm

General slowness and, of greater concern replies to threads not showing in views. For example, every post after GoingAway's does not show in the thread view from the forum. Not good. :td:

FlyingOnceMore Feb 23, 2009 5:35 pm

Not seeing the latest post updates in forums or via 'New Posts' (last post is 11:53 GMT). They're only visible by going into individual threads.

I can't remember the last time we had a day without some database related error.

Bobster Feb 23, 2009 5:43 pm

Yes, here we go again. The "new posts" page hasn't had a new post in 50 minutes.

Also I tried 3 times to unsubscribe from a thread and I'm still subscribed.

N965VJ Feb 23, 2009 5:43 pm

Right now only 6 posts are showing up in the New Posts view, and they are an hour old.

ETA: Looking at the Current Active Users at the bottom of each forum, I’m the only one on FT right now, not even any guests.

Firewind Feb 23, 2009 5:57 pm

Said another way... I think...

I just posted a comment in a Southwest thread. It's there in the thread (whew - cuz I didn't "Copy" it all) but not on the list of threads. Not noticing other slowness. But my computer may not be speedy enough to show a difference.

**************************
Also, in the "Currently Active Users" box, I see only me. I've tried this on several boards just now, and it's the same.

Bobster Feb 23, 2009 6:19 pm

I was just going to report that I'm the only active user but somehow you beat me. How could that possibly happen when I'm the only one here? It's my own private forum. Go away!!!

:D

wharvey Feb 25, 2009 10:42 am

FT is moving at a snails pace for me today.

Anyone else having problems?

Same here, you can make a coffee while waiting between clicks.
