Very slow tonight.

cblaisd Aug 13, 2008 11:06 pm

Intermittently so here too.

Dovster Aug 13, 2008 11:11 pm

Does FT have different servers for different parts of the world? I haven't been experiencing any delays at all today.

AFAIK no (and I too have not experienced speed issues on FT today). It's been speculated before that ads differ by location so may be some ad that attempts to load (even for those like me on FT premium) slowing FT down?

JohnMcG Aug 14, 2008 9:13 am

I'll ask our tech team to look into this.

coachrowsey Aug 14, 2008 9:18 am

For the most part very slow. Calling it a day:mad:

Cholula Aug 14, 2008 9:27 am

I've been reading the comments for the last couple days and have expected to see a website slowdown. But FT is zipping right along and I've have had zero speed issues. And, believe me, I've lived through the gut-wrenchingly slow issues of the recent past.

If location has anything to do with this, I'm posting from my usual Southern CA location.

magiciansampras Aug 14, 2008 11:23 am

Getting lots of timeouts here in Boston.

cblaisd Aug 14, 2008 11:44 am

About one in three clicks on an FT link lead to an immediate timed-out/can't find result.

This makes for lots of possibilities of dup posts as well ;)

Mary2e Aug 14, 2008 11:49 am

I've been getting every first click to a forum or thread as a time out. The second usually lets me in, but sometimes it doesn't.

oliver2002 Aug 14, 2008 12:24 pm

Experiencing timeouts every 4-5th click. I use firefox with ......., so the ads can't be it as the system doesn't even try to load them.

JOUY31 Aug 14, 2008 3:07 pm

Same here.

Global_Hi_Flyer Aug 14, 2008 3:15 pm

Same here w/timeouts - east coast

Just want to check in and see if FT is running OK in the back room. :)

Edit to add:
In the last two hours, I've running 5 "FT Network Timeout" warnings when submitting posts or doing search. :(

Just to clarify, when I first reported the "Network Timeout" problem last night, I didn't encounter any slowness issue. FT was running fine, speed-wise.

As for the Timeout, the 2nd try or refresh would take care of it. It's simply not a normal FT performance, timeout on and off.

BTW, I am on Firefox w/ ....... Plus as well. I don't think the ad server is any factor.

magiciansampras Aug 17, 2008 12:16 pm

I'm getting occasional slow page loads where the system just seems to hang and do nothing. I have to open a new tab in firefox to get the page to load.

JohnMcG Aug 17, 2008 4:27 pm

Checking the site today, it seems to be performing fine. If anyone is having difficulties, please let me know. Thanks!

JohnMcG Aug 18, 2008 10:42 am

I will engage our techs on this.

Same here... extremely sluggish!

cblaisd Aug 18, 2008 3:49 pm

Getting worse and worse.

Pat89339 Aug 18, 2008 4:31 pm

Timing out, sluggish, driving me crazy, all of the above. Three attempts to post this.

swei0009 Aug 18, 2008 4:31 pm

Same problem, both with WinXP & Firefox, and Mac OSX and Firefox.

This is my problem... fairly consistent as well.

It may be rooted in FF3, I don't recall it happening until the upgrade.

linsj Aug 19, 2008 1:40 pm

Still happening today. I'm on WinXP and IE7.

cblaisd Aug 19, 2008 2:50 pm

Ditto.

And sloooow too.

Worse today than yesterday .... is something being done to address this?

wharvey Aug 19, 2008 4:18 pm

Definitely worse than yesterday.... very very slow.

SkiAdcock Aug 19, 2008 6:05 pm

I'm not getting timeouts but it is loading slow. Running IE.

Cheers.

Stormybot Aug 20, 2008 12:09 pm

Hey everyone. We apologize for any slowness that you may be experiencing while browsing this site. Fixing this issue is our top priority. While it seems to be flying fast for me now, I have not heard any official word that the issue has been fixed yet so I doubt it has. More information as we hear it.

Stormybot Aug 20, 2008 12:14 pm

I apologize for the slowness that you are experiencing while browsing this site. Our network guys are working hard to resolve the issue.

More information as we get it.

Kiwi Flyer Aug 20, 2008 4:20 pm

Thanks for the updates Stormybot

FT is again very slooooow.

I hope it was a good one.... :)

This is really sad... taking forever to load... and getting worse.

I just started 2 threads in OMNI. The clock is five hours ahead and presumably the posts will show up then. Weird, weird behavior, though.

cblaisd Aug 21, 2008 3:46 am

Stop and go. Stop and go. Stop and go.

Stormybot Aug 21, 2008 3:27 pm

Hey everyone. Our network guys say that they have identified a fix for the general slowness and timeouts. Flyertalk is flying for me right now, but I am inside our network. What are you experiencing now? Slowness or lots of speediness?
