[rant over] :D Now, we do have a plan to fix these issues. Unfortunately, we're looking at a plate of spaghetti and trying to port it over to the more modern configurations. This is not a straight forward task and takes a tremendous amount of troubleshooting. Are we working on this? Absolutely. Are we getting closer to deployment? You bet. Do I know exactly when it will be done? No. I keep saying "we're working on the issue" which has to be horribly frustrating to you. Sadly, that is all I can really say. We are working on the issue, and it is a top priority. I keep getting asked for details, and I'm reluctant on being specific. This is because if I posted about every little glitch that we are tracking down, I'll spend more time posting and less time fixing. Some of the things are proprietary, some of the things are boring, and some of the things don't require a conversation. I sincerely apologize for being vague, but it's done out of necessity. |
Thanks for taking the time to reply IB-Dick. ^
With me not being very technically minded I haven't a clue what you were talking about but thankfully it sounds as if you do. :D Happy fixing. |
More database errors and things are crawling.

Timed out twice trying to get to this thread :(
|
The whole site has been timing out; it was painful to get here to report it.
|
Took me over 40 minutes to get access to FT.... really sad!
|
Ok, it's not just me. Is there anyone from FT's tech support resolving this problem?

Flyertalk Website So Slow?!?
Is it just me or is the FlyerTalk website incredibly sluggish? I love this place, it's a wealth of knowledge but it's frustrating as all heck. Any suggestions/comments?
 |
no problem here right now, loads instantly (but it happens from time to time, may be once per month for me, that the website is very slow or not responsiv at all).

For those interested: I changed my browser from Firefox to IE and it is significantly faster. Maybe this will help other experiencing similar issues.
Cheers. ;) |
please continue to follow this thread in our technical issues forum :)

I give up
I also love FT, but what the heck is wrong ? I've wasted way to much time. I give up.

The database has encountered a problem. Please try the following: • Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser. • Open the www.flyertalk.com home page, then try to open another page. • Click the Back button to try another link. The www.flyertalk.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists. . We apologise for any inconvenience. Firefox version 3.0.7 (Mac OS X 10.5) works fine! |

suddenly crawling along with database errors at 10:25am pst
edited to add: horrendously slow with both simple time-outs and database errors at 2:55pm pst |
For the last hour, it's been noticeable slower to load FT pages (across the fora I visited) and post replies.
I am using FF. |
database errors and very slow as of 12:10pm pst (the time it started)
|
I received a message saying I hadn't posted in a while - but had posted less than 12 hours ago - database seems totally messed up as it says my last visit was Jan - but really was 12 hours ago!

We had a data corruption issue yesterday. The issue is being worked on.

Also in the last few days:
Not sure which thread to post this in, but since IB-Dick is watching this one, and reporting an issue: Two things just happened to my account in the last couple of days. I have been in the "invisible" mode, whatever it's called, when I'm signed in for months. Now I'm here (no red button anymore). Second, when going into My FlyerTalk to correct this (and I can't find where to do it now) I noticed that I've elected to see threads going back just a year. I did correct this to "All...," but I'd been auto-switched maybe also in the last few days.
So my (too) obvious reason for bringing this up is to ask how we can switch to the invisible mode again. Or is the only option not to sign in? Thanks. :) |
Slow "Submit Reply" and edit
I'm just checking!
I've been finding for a week or so that if posting a message or reply that after hitting "submit reply" it's taking forever for my reply to post. If I try to edit a response it seems to take forever to "submit reply". I thought it might be some local IE settings or other security settigns but I cannot see anything that might cause it. Is my problem attributable to the general slowing of FT or is it just me please? |
This should be part of the "side effects" from the sudden "improvements" since late April 8th. FT has been running into slow mode intermittently in the last couple days, even though IB was projecting "a couple of hours."
The main thread to report all the problems: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...-9-2009-a.html However, if slow FT has been consistent on your side, you may want to chime in here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...ally-slow.html |

I'm sorry, Stormybot, but I'm not finding it. Gave it several tries, and tried looking in other nooks, too. Thank you.
|
May not be available to everyone. I will have to check and see if it is supposed to be.

You obviously haven't read this following thread that folks have been chiming in on this problem. Please give us some updates over there as well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/techn...invisible.html |
