Please go back to the old format

Now the text boxes are not loading. The background is just white and it is difficult to navigate throught the posts. This is obviously some type of Microsoft Windows webpage software and server given the problems that are plaquing Flyertalk. I wonder if this is some beta version of the new Flyertalk interface. Apple would be the way to go. ^

Hmmmmm . . . The airlines can announce a new mileage perk and you're all eager to wait while they put the new perk together for it to come to fruition.

But . . . let the board where you learn about that new mileage perk revamp the way it delivers the information and you're patience is about as thin as dental floss.

If you were paying for this board, you'd have the right to bltch. Since you're not, constructive criticism is best sent to TPTB rather than aired like a hillbilly's dirty laundry in public. This IS after all, flyertalk.com, not trailerpark.gov!

I'll admit, it's been one exciting adventure after another since they cranked up the new version. Something different every time you log in. Perhaps it would have been better to leave it down longer until more of the bugs were worked out, I mean, where would you go? It's not like they would loose members to this free board hell this place is like heroin!

Regardless of how smoothly a board may run, there will ALWAYS be someone in the background working their fanny off, making sure everyone's desire to bltch & complain goes unimpeded, it's a daily chore, and a full time job to keep a MB running.

RANDY: Set up a paypal donation page so those of us who appreciate what you're trying to do can kick in a few bucks to help out. This stuff ain't cheap to run . . . believe me I know!

Chill out guys, the problems will be resolved. Just takes some time. This was a major software upgrade and there were millions of lines of text that needed to be archived and reloaded into the new architecture.

I'm sure Randy and team will have this place back to normal very soon with a great new look and feel.

Just need to remain patient.

The default is GMT, which will have a different hour and may have a different day from your local time zone. You can go to Options and change to your local time zone.

I'm shocked it's UNIX based

tekelberry,

Just curious as to how you knew that the new Flyertalk forum is based on a UNIX system? It looks alot like a Windows XP interface to me, which is why I guessed it was a Microsoft based web program. I am surprised that this is UNIX, since it is one of the best systems in terms of speed and reliability. I am using a Power Macintosh G4 with OS 10.3 (Panther) which is UNIX based and have had no problems. The Dell I have at work (Windows 2000 Professional) is a worthless piece of, well, you know.

Your Power Macintosh G4 is not running a newly designed bulletin board with thousands of posters trying to post and read millions of posts....

Seriously, give things some time!

The underlying OS has little bearing on the output of web pages.

LOL! You're comparing your desktops to server performance issues.
