It's fast now
It's moving at lighting speed now. Guess they got it fixed.

Its current speed might have to do with less users being on, given that it's friday evening. Speaking of which, it's time for beer.... ^

People who design web site for travelers....
... should be forced to visit all the business lounges in airports and ensure their design works with the tired and overworked computers with marginal bandwidths in these lounges.
They may be able to get the servers powerful enough to serve all the cutesies in this new format fast enough but when travelers who haunt these message boards are no longer able to download the huge page content at each click when at a lounge or on a dialup from a hotel room, then the designers have lost the plot.
Just looking at the page where I am typing this, it is almost 50k in size not including the graphics!!!!! It includes the posts in the thread below it. Why would I want to wait for the page to download the posts in the thread to reply when I am on a dialup?
Not to be overly critical of a free resource but feature creep never solved a scaling problem.

Give it some time & hopefully it will get better both from FT getting its software act together more, and from each of us playing more with the system so that we get more used to it until it is again second nature....

It seems to be getting faster. Yesterday the board was just worthless. But given time, I'm sure things will be getting eed.

The speed of the site seems determined by the load. At odd hours it is ok, but still nowhere near as good as the old front end. During the day, it is useless.
It is frustrating when you cannot post a reply.
I also receive many errors and timeouts. ^_ ^_
I think they paved paradise and put up a parking lot

Still too slow, besides the fact that I can't seem to access the site using Netscape 7.0

The new format sucks and it is way too slow. I think FT will loose a lot of people. They should have left it alone. Too bad. But for me I find myself moving away from FT now.

the new regime is harder to navigate, too, whilst we're at it. hard to hop from one forum to another-- you're forced to traverse menus for it.

or actually a BUNCH of patience and a BUNCH of loyalty almost certainly is in order here.
I mean, gheeessus. We all know Randy does whatever he can to keep this whole thing together. Its not like he's some [crooked] airline exec making millions. He's the fairest community leader I've come across as an entrepreneur and executive who studies them.
And as far as the transition is concerned, these are not easy things to accomplish. Randy is right, eBay, Amazon, etc...all had servers crash and growing pains...and they spent HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars. I guarantee you Randy found some way to give us upgrades, on a shoestring, so he doesn't have to raise our membership/magazine costs.
So, if you're gonna leave the day or two after a major upgrade, good riddance, dude..."we ain't want yas around here anyway" as they say...so beat it.
