Have you set up My Flyertalk with your preferred forums stored on it? You'll have a menu there of only the forums you want, and you won't need to jump all over as they'll be in one place, easily accessible by clicking on My FlyerTalk.

When you enter a new forum, click on 'forum tools" and you can subscribe from there. After that point, you just need to click on My Flyertalk and all your forums will be right there.

I will confirm again, it's working beautifully for me. I posted very early this morning stating the same thing and now about 12 hours later it's still running great. Just like the old days. ^ I was just as frustrated as many of you yesterday, but I'm a happy camper today.

It's too bad you've only been registered for a month and are already abandoning FT. There's a wealth of information here, and it will be your loss if you leave.

Give Randy a break, please! We brought up a multi-million dollar CAD system at work and we had crashes and networks problems for several weeks until we fine tuned it. I remember entering a shooting one night and right in the middle of the call my screen froze, and I had to go to the backup plan (screamng across the floor at the police dispatcher to start units to the shooting until someone with a working terminal could enter the call). This stuff happens with new software, and you have to give the IT team time to sort out the bugs and fine tune it. It runs fne in the early morning hours, as I was logged on between 1a.m. and 6.a.m yetserday morning and was zipping right along, as were some other users (PremEx was on line). The problems seem to arise when there's more people logged on later in the day, and in the evening. I'm sure they have the stats readily available to try and fix it.

Those of us that have been here a while appreciate what Randy offers us here, and are going to give him some type to work on the bugs. I don't think he's going to lose anyone that values what he offers here. There is no comparable board out there to match FT.

1. A Subscribe function would be very useful. The old software let the original poster subscribe to a forum, but nobody else. Other boards permit anyone to subscribe to a forum, even if they don't post a message. The latter is very handy, and I hope it is added to the new FT.

2. Is there a way to bookmark / make a favorite of a forum, like MilesBuzz?

I appreciate Randy and the team continuing to make improvements to this wonderful resource!

Edited to add: What the heck is this thread doing in the AA forum?!? Also, I see now that there is a limited subscribe function, available only(?) to those who post in a thread...you can see it in the Options area of the board. Subscribing is an all-or-none thing, it does not appear that you can subscribe to only certain threads.

These boards remind me of the old Prodigy Network running over a 2400 modem on a PC Xt with 512K memory. These boards are a disaster.

I find this totally unusable. Too slow, too cluttered. It's like the "Windows XP Home Version" of bulletin board software

****ting the site for about a week these days is very strange. I cant remember any site like flyertalk to go down for that long. Usually they keep the old site up and phase into the new site. It still is not ready for prime time..

I'm relatively new to FT - and now, am telling myself to be patient for the bugs to get worked out. But it is a bit perplexing to have things take a long time to load (with fairly fast ADSL,) or go to error forms, or load with different appearances and options after a few hours. Some of the graphics do not post correctly (e.g. the "thumbs down" graphic posts as "thumbs up". Definitely not following through on poster's intent...)

Another issue I am noticing is when one posts, the time of post is totally screwed up, even being on another DAY than the post.

I really benefit from info on FT, and even try to contribute a bit. But it is very difficult to do either when things are so confuzzed.

May the IT gods get this working beyond the vaporware / unevenware phase. I miss it!

Agreed. The new Flyertalk needs to go "Back to the Future".

Been out of town for several days and just logged on with great interest to the new deal.

First reaction is I do not like it at all, but we all think that on most 'new' things I guess.

My main problem is it is MILES slower for me than the old FT was. No matter what I go to do ..... it just crawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwls.

No idea what time it is set on, (someone posted not mountain time any more but can't waste 5 minutes waiting for that thread to open up) but right now it is all but unusable for me and AFAIK it is early am in the USA, so almost no-one should be using it right now?

Has this extreme slowness been the experience of others?

It's set to GMT, but you can edit your profile and select your local time zone there.

It's running just fine for me right now. Looks like they've turned off some of the graphics and colors to speed things up. Friday night I could not get in at all.

When you click on FlyerTalk Forums, you'll see how many people are logged on. It seems the more logged on, the slower it will get. Right now there are 321 people using FT, but I've seen it up in the 700's quite a bit. It runs really fast when there's less than 200 people logged on.

Once you set up your forums in My FlyerTalk, it will save having to navigate around. You'll find all your preferred forums on one page.

This site is so frustrating now. Maybe some FTer should start a competing website to offer an improved service.
