HB-JNA is now in the air for its first test flight as LX576 at FL390 south of Everett.

C and F look fine - Y does not concern me - the advantage of getting older . The triple 7 is really "wide" body an I much appreciate it flying SQ. It is just an outdated plane looking old from outside.

Not to mention a pretty steep discount to help bridge 777 production until the 777X comes online

I am not following.

The plane type is less than 20 years old, so it should still look fresh to you then ...
I much appreciate it flying SQ. It is just an outdated plane looking old from outside.
You could stick with SQ then ...

But seriously how does the 777 look dated? It is still the pinnacle of rugged and reliable manufacturing, beautiful supercritical airfoils that are optimal for longhaul and super longhaul travel. And its area rule elements (which were most visible with the A330/340) are near indistinguishable from the 787 and the A380.

Sure the nose on the 787 is sexier and the split ailerons on the A380 look fantastic but the 777 is still a world class twin.

12 June 1994 is soon 22 years, and yes it is rugged, but not sexy (nose).

At the end of the day what counts how it feels inside and that depends on the class of service and the airline. LX will make something pleasant as SQ does, still remember that first flight between SIN and HKG in 2006 with their then brand new C class then.

Not solely - it's ugly little sister, the Plastic Liner make shrieky noises all the time. So I take the 777 over the 787 any day.

Well that option is already out of the window? An ultra LCC Y product paired with zilch PE product, the all new LX isn't even an alternative, let alone a competitor to SQ IMO.

I hear rumors that LX is reconsidering the 777 deployment on the BKK route in favor of SIN.
Can anyone comment on that?

I checked some dates in Summer and indeed 777 is showing up for BKK and not SIN..

I think you got what f4freeJunior was saying the wrong way around.

It _was_ (and still officially is) supposed to be operating the BKK flight, but what f4freeJunior is saying that there are rumours about it operating SIN _instead of_ BKK.
