Please explain what you mean. The photos I've seen and everything I've read shows that they're beautiful.

I'm trying to reach 130K SPG points but I'm afraid by the time I do so, Starwood will charge 90K or award rooms will no longer be available.

Its a beautiful resort, don't get me wrong... but as you may find many other saying their beach villa or pool villa > OWV. They OWV is brutally hot, even if you keep the shades drawn all day (and isn't the point to not do that?). Our Sunset water villa was run down. Creaky bed, stains on the window panels, and overall grimy feeling compared to beach villa.

Other than that yes its a wonderful resort, I had some staff issues as well as management issues (we had a bad ant problem in our Sunset water villa). They moved us back to the beach villa but wouldn't refund us for the money I paid for the OWV.

Shelling out 500$ a night with tax for the OWV just isn't worth it imo.

Cant beat the natural beauty of that resort though

Side note- Our OWV was brutally hot in May with a fair amount of rain and cloud cover. Cant imagine what its like in peak heat/sun. The AC just doesn't work plain and simple in their pursuit of being a super eco friendly resort

Side note 2- You know what rates the PH goes for and will always go for. This St. Regis deal may be a one time limited thing so hop on it while you can... it looks like it will be stunning and St Regis never disappoints

We're booked for St. Regis in Feb. as well- looks gorgeous and very happy to hop on the offer so thanks for the info.

Good to hear about the OWV at PH. We stayed in a beach villa in Jan '14 and were thinking of upgrading to one in Feb '17, but now we'll probably stick with a beach villa. We loved the reef, fish, etc. here and would like to try another place but I'm not sure one will compare as nicely. We stayed in Baros for a week this year in a pool OWV and it was stunning, excellent food, and service and while the reef was spectacular, PH's reef was better still.

Booked 6 nights Jan. 4-10 in an overwater bungalow at this insane rate. They are charging a 10% resort fee which hasn't been mentioned anywhere here that I've seen.

With how close everything is its not like the OWV even have a huge advantage with regards to the house reef. Plain and simple the OWV have worn more than the Beach villas. We had a pool villa and I think it is the best way to go at the PH. Especially if you request one with a lot of beachfront. $500 a night to be in one just isn't justifiable unless you ABSOLUTELY have to have the "overwater" experience. Money would much be better spent diving or on activities

Is everybody paying a 10% fee? That would come out to be $200+ per night!

Whoa what the hell?

None of my confirmation emails say this!

[edit] my confirmation says:

Taxes
Room rate includes the following:
Gst:
12.0 % Per Room / Per Night
Room rate excludes the following:
Green Tax:
6.0 Usd Per Person / Per Night
Hotel Charges
Room rate includes the following:
Service Charge:
10.0 % Per Room / Per Night

So I see nothing about a resort fee and I'm sure as hell not paying it.

Maybe they misquoted the Room rate service charge as a resort fee when I called?

Any idea of any activities to be offered at this resort? Seems like one could go stir crazy on a small island for 6-7 days.

Has anybody run into any dates that are sold out or otherwise not available? If this is like Intercontinental Thalasso, then there are only a couple award nights available for each date. My AMEX SPG statement closes in 2+ weeks. I don't know if I should wait that long or just buy $600 worth of points now. I'm looking at February.

Hi VCURamFan,

We have checked hotel's website and there is no mention of a resort fee. It seems that the reservation associate gave you incorrect inforamtion.

As another data point the Beach Suites are 240K for 5 days. Selling for about $6K a night on the website so potentially even a better value in terms of dollars per point
