Couple of buglets to keep the developers on their toes :

The iPad app is not handling Day Rates properly. Searching Sheraton Edinburgh for 1 - 2 Oct it says "Lowest Standard Rate from GBP318", but when you tap this it then presents a list of Day Use Only rates from GBP150. You then have to fold away these rates, scroll down and unfold the "Prepaid Rate" section to see the list of rooms from GBP318. Suggest the display should be changed so that the initial focus on the Prepaid Section, rather than the Day Rate section.

Also, if you then tap the 'bed' icon top right (which I presume means I am changing from a 'by rate' view to a 'by room type' view), it then presents a list of rooms with "Castle Suite from GBP453.60" at the top, and this section is pre-unfolded with a list of rates. I then have to fold this away, scroll down to find the Lowest Rate rooms, and unfold that section. Conventionally, rooms are presented in ascending room-type order (broom cupboard to presidential suite), it seems the app is presenting them in a rather random order. If I've asked for Lowest Rate, why is the Castle Suite presented first ?

There also a bug in the calendar scroll : you have done some searching and set the dates (eg Oct 8 - 9) which are highlighted. You leave the app and come back later. The same dates are highlighted, but the left (back) calendar chevron is greyed out, so you can't go back to 'this week' : you have to go forward first before it then allows you to go back.

And, the new app on iOS is looking pretty nice. Overall the first impression is very good.

Navigation is much improved and there's no more pasting reservation number in a browser window to change the reservation, at least in the parts that I tried.

Maybe it's just me, but I've found it as bad as the new website. Am I the only one who sees that:

Search "Parsipp" and it can't find Parsippany

There's a calendar that scrolls up and down, but I can't flick up or down to move. I have to click the right arrow to move down.

"Search" is at the bottom, but "Done" is at the top in two different calendars.

The list of properties that are found shows that date at the top. When I tap it, it flashes, but does nothing. If I pick a rate, then I get a Change Date function (I need to know what rate I want before I can change a date?). And I can change the date for the rate I selected, but when I go back (left arrow) to the results, my date change is lost.

Three icons at the top right for 3 different views of the results. One click does nothing. Double click highlights the icon but still does nothing. I have to quad tap it to actually change the display. But it I do quad click, then it only takes one click to enable another view's icon. But still two more to actually change the view. WTH? Defective 3D touch implementation on a non-3D device (iPadAir2)

That was my first 10 minutes with it this morning. Again - looks nice, doesn't help me do what I need.

EDIT - iPhone version seems much better.

Had I known this was going to happen, I would've stayed with iOS 8.x. Yet another step backwards, just like the new spg.com website.

SPG: All these changes are costing you real dollars at this point.

EDIT - iPhone version seems much better.
My apologies for the inconvenience, but only the iPhone app was updated. The iPad app will be updated on a future release. Hopefully, it will perform as well as the iPhone version is for you now.

No obvious problem on IOS 8 for me.

Can anyone explain why spg is releasing an app update which they say "Requires IOS 9.0 or later" at the same time that IOS 9 is released ?

I'm running v6.0 , dated Sept. 16, 2015 on my iPad. It was automatically pushed as part of the regular App Store upgrade process. If it wasn't updated, what am I running?




App Store also shown an iPad 6.0 dated yesterday. "This app is designed for both the iPhone and iPad" and has iPad-specific screenshots.

I'm just reporting what I was told this morning, which was, "that the iPad was NOT updated this round, we will be looking to update it next."

Now, I was just using the new app and I saw the screen showing a reservation for Stephen at W Dallas (i.e. not mine); I did not click on anything else, and closed the app and reopened to reveal my own reservations.

If the app wasn't just showing a "placeholder" page for what I saw, this can mean something really bad.

Is it me, or was the wallet integration for the member card dropped in the new iphone app ?
In other word, I can not find the "add to passbook" (or add to wallet) button anymore in the new app.

Any guidance or am I correct ?

I cannot add any stays to wallet/passbook. I logged out and in again. Did you kill this feature??!

I really liked the old app on the iPhone. On the iPad the new one is nice.

I like look of the new app but miss the passbook feature.

Also, I very nearly CANCELLED one of my reservations as I was tapping around!! All too easy it would seem.

From 6.0.1 9/24 - "Apple Wallet (f/k/a Passbook) support is back for SPG member cards."


I had to delete the card that was already there (that hadn't been updated since April), re-start the phone and load the app several times before it worked.
