It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

That's right. Perhaps if enough SPG LTP complain loud enough between now and Aug. 1, there's the hope that they may reconsider how they treat SPG LTP once the programs merge.

The speculation is all around people trying to concoct their own ways of interpreting some very straightforward information. The statement is the announcement and the information on their website. You can also look at the comment by Ahmed the Starwood Lurker to see that with regards to SPG they don’t see LT as including 4 tiers.

Bingo. I think that it would be much more useful for people to provide feedback based on the facts which at the moment make it extremely clear that there is no LTPPE path for anyone that will be a member of the new program but wasn’t LTP in the legacy MR program.

Cannot complain about new lifetime status after the programs will be combined. Naturally, I would preferred that SPG could continue as a independent company but life sucks, sometimes.
Currently SPG LTG with 6 years of Platinum and MR Platinum with 3 years, combined nights are more than 600. I must make dozen stays before August 1st in SPG hotels to re-qualify as Platinum and/or more nights with Marriott to re-qualify as Platinum Premiere and that would be enough to be LTP in the new combined program,Platinum Premiere status after August 1st is coming anyway. Basically no need to qualify in the future since LTP guarantees breakfast and 4PM check-out . Those I value most, upgrades would be appreciated but with SPG, I have got them during most of my stays.

Another unhappy camper here. 15 years plat, 954 nights. Most nights at Westin and st Regis. Will be second class citizen to those who stayed 750 nights at a Fairfield inn or courtyard.

I think those who have been around enough should be fairly confident, as I am, that William is making the reactions/feedback here visible to those who need to see it. That doesn't mean it will change, but it won't be because they don't know.

(but I'm guessing something will change)

Another unhappy customer. I've posted on this forum once I think in 8 years, but this unfortunate situation requires comment. If they want to treat the programs as truly coming together upon merger, then the criteria for all Lifetime statuses should also be equal. I chose long ago to support SPG. If I had chosen Marriott at that time, you tell me I'd receive better status now? Please SPG and Marriott, fix this oversight and give those highest-end SPG members the grandfathered status.

Thank you! But I am asking a different question.

What will the criteria be to achieve lifetime Platinum in 2019 ?

What will be the criteria for lifetime Platinum in 2019 - 750 combined nights, 10 years Platinum, etc?

600 nights and 10 years as Platinum. If you have SPG and MR account, your nights and Platinum years will be combined.

Marriott needs to reconsider about the grandfather entry to a higher level of lifetime platinum elite. Starwood/Marriott should run numbers on exactly how many of us have over 750 nights and 2 million points. Many of us have well over 1000 nights and 2 million points. Marriott needs to make this right.

You mean Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite? Not possible 2019. This status will be granted only MR members who will achieve MR Lifetime Platinum level until Dec.31st 2018. Then Marriott will closed that(grandfathered)until further notice which may come in the future or not.

i understand and why this is unfair, but is there a way to earn LTPP in the new program if you are either a grandfathered LTP or earn LTP after 1/1/19?

Gotta say I am really pi$$ed about this too. After many years of loyalty to get to LTP with 750+ nights this feels like a kick in the teeth and will almost certainly change my staying patterns if not resolved. I hope the lurkers have noted our dissatisfaction and passed on to 'management' to have another think.

I also put quite a bit of efforts and $$ logging in 750+ nights with SPG and 11 years of SPG PLT. From what I know Marriott was giving their Gold status left and right and sometimes Platinum especially to corporate travelers. This was making accumulation of Marriott points easier. I think grandfathering Marriott LT Platinum into Life Time Platinum Elite and not not providing path to that for the most loyal SPG customers is plain wrong. If that is indeed the case it will tell me a lot about Marriott and what to expect in the future.
I will be then simply shifting my stays to Hilton where I am Diamond for 12 years but still short of 1,000 nights for the lifetime status.
