It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

i agree....even if i don't spend a single night at spg/marriott, as lifetime plat with spg i'm guaranteed benefits that come with spending 50 nights (minus the suite nights)....i would have gone for 75 nights if it came with the your24 benefit or even for 100 nights if the spend requirement was not there but now i don't see much benefit coming from hitting either one of those targets....i never thought i would be saying this but hilton is going to start getting the majority (if not all) of my business now....

How do you find out your lifetime SPG points? From a private spreadsheet?

1) How do I find out my lifetime spg points

2) I understand about grandfathering in LTP, but I am unclear of the requirements going forward. This will be my 8th year of SPG Platinum. I have 550 SPG nights ( and also have 100 Marriott nights). When I get 750 combined nights will I make LTP?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Dshafiee,

We’ll have three Lifetime Elite tiers, each with its own nights and Elite tenure thresholds starting in August. And when you achieve a Lifetime Elite tier, you’ll never go below it, and your points will never expire. Check out this link for more details: members.marriott.com/benefits

Please feel free to let us know if we can assist you further.

Countless Marriott LTP's earned their status by achieving 12 years, 1000 nights and over 3M points.
Marriott closed the deal on Starwood so perhaps its fitting/appropriate to give Legacy Marriott LTP's a unique position within the new tiered elite structure.

Countless SPG LTPs also have 12+ years, 1000 nights and over 3M points. Why not give them the same treatment to show them that their continued loyalty will be appreciated? Heck, give them a challenge and say "Give us another year and we will give you the same status". Without even a path to get to the same status we will forever have a feeling of being less valued.

Ahmed, Please ensure that you are being accurate when posting. In August you will have 4 Lifetime tiers, yes?

The 4th tier, LTPP, is not available to SPG members as of now.

1. Talk to a Plat Concierge and ask if they can send you a "Master Statement"
2. The new LT chart clearly says "10 years of Platinum plus 600 nights". Post-combination, you'll have the nights part covered, but still will need 2 more years of Plat status.

The SPG rep I spoke with said that people have until Dec 31st to qualify for LTP w 500 nights/10 years.

After that, the program moves to 600
combined SPG and Marriott nights / 10 years in the combined programs .

Question- if I did platinum challenge with Marriott and SPG and made platinum with both, would 2 years now count towards lifetime?

Not it sure if it was answered already but what’s the new protocol with multiple rooms and night credits? SPG was 3, Marriott only credited 1 room?

And thus "we" whether this is Ahmed as an employee of Marriott or us as members of the Marriott loyalty programs, will have 4 tiers. Posting that there will be three tiers is disingenuous.

Perhaps those of us LTPs over the 750 or 1K night threshold need to organize a bit and then approach David Flueck. I've created a FB group for that purpose but perhaps a thread with a wiki here may be just as useful?

Not without I am feeling a little shafted ... with MR qualification I would have LTPP spg points (x3) 2M+ and 800+ nights with SPG ... but I have only 7 years SPG plat .... so now I am LTG with little or no incentive to stay with MPG .... since my career path have taken me to a role with less travel ... fair enough probably I am not an interesting customer ... so since majority of travel is nowadays personal leisure.... I can feel free to try out other brands and independent hotel ... exception could be if you can find good BRG ... given that they don't manage screw that up ....

A humble suggestion to powers that be: add a points + nights requirement in addition to the existing LT-tiers : That would achieve at least one thing:

It would motivate people in a similar situation as myself be loyal to the brand, i.e. there would give me a reason for me to clock like 20-30 nights /year into MPG otherwise as of now I am indifferent. Anyway probably the cost of doing so exceeds the potential revenue so ....

Thank goodness I am in my last year of qualifying for SPG Lifetime Platinum with 9 years and 591 nights. Qualifying this year under the "old" SPG rules will put me at 10 years and I've already reached the nights threshold under the "old" program so if I am understanding all of this I should be good. If you combine the two programs nights I would be at over 800 nights but that isn't going to do me any good at this point.
