2 scenarios that came to mind on this point. Would you mind clarifying on these?

1) I stay at the same hotel each week and towards the end of the promotion I link my foursquare and SPG accounts for the first time and check into the hotel via foursquare for the first time. Would I earn the 250 points for each stay inside of the promotional period or just the current one that coincided with me registering and checking-in?

2) I stay at the same hotel each week and linked my accounts at the beginning of the promotional period. Towards the end of the promotion I check into the hotel via foursquare for the first time. Would I earn the 250 points for each stay inside of the promotional period or just the current one that coincided with my check-in?

As always, appreciate the help!

Two other questions:

1) Stays last week before the promo went live. T&C says since May 1, can we assume we'll get the points if we checked in?

2) Do check-ins have to be public? If you click "share with friends" as no when checking in, does it still qualify?

if i am reading correctly it is 250 points per foursquare check-in...limited to once every 24 hours. but if i have a stay that lasts 3 nights, i can check-in (on foursquare) three times for 750 points?

Is there a way to know if a check-in site is official or not? I assume only the official check-in sites will count since only those would SPG be able to verify.

It is going to be only one check-in per reservation.

Sure. In so far as I am able.

250 bonus will be earned for every confirmed reservation/Foursquare check-in after the member has linked their accounts, but it is not retroactive so they would not get credit for previous check-ins/reservations prior to linking their accounts.

No – the guest has to check in on Foursquare for each reservation. So, unfortunately, if they forgot to check-in on Foursquare during their stay, they cannot get the bonus at a later date outside the date of their reservation.

hm, I do and it pains me to see how people give it up so easy for a few points

Makes sense, no questions here.

I guess I want to clarify what you posted earlier then:

So you mean it doesn't matter when you check into Foursquare within the time of your stay at the hotel? I just want to clarify when we actually can check-in on 4S and get credit! For instance, I'm jumping between 2 different SPG properties each night and want to make sure I check-in at the right time to get credit for each stay!

SPG associated special offer call outs at each venue such as the copy pasted below:

Earn 250 bonus StarpointsŪ when you check in with a confirmed reservation after you've linked your SPG and foursquare accounts at spg.com/socialcheckins. SPG and foursquare accounts must be linked at time of check in. See spg.com/foursquare for additional terms and conditions

So, if you do not see the special offer copy listed, you are not checking in on Foursquare at the official venue.

Yes. Once the stay has passed, there is no going back to check in for it on Foursquare.

Thanks. This makes it clear.

Sounds like it would have been easier to go through TopGuest.com, like Hilton and other brands do, IMHO, but glad to see SPG trying something innovative and fun... Thanks!!!

I disagree - Foursquare is much more widely used than TopGuest. I am really glad SPG used a site that is already popular instead of trying to take a niche checkin site. I would be annoyed if I had to check in on TopGuest for hotels, TopEater for restaurants, TopDrinker for bars, etc, just to get the rewards. Foursquare is all inclusive.

Agreed. When I first saw the thread title I was thinking yattit.com
