While I don't like stuff like 4square, Google Latitude, Facebook Locations & Co.,

this concept is truly amazing! What a cool idea @:-) I might overcome my 4square-phobia to join this game

Whoever in marketing came up with this: Kudos to you ^

i am not at all interested in facebook, twitter, foursquare and such things and i think it is contra productive for you if you support such things! that makes me rather book with other chains.
Foursquare has a strategy of paying for bonus to get users. I would guess the bulk, if not all, of the costs for this promo is paid by [email protected]:-)

Social media, by definition, is intrusive. Whether you want to play or not is your call.

Sorry. Would it be possible for you to ask your question again? I am not sure if I understand it correctly.

12 stays coming up so it would be a nice bonus
All SPG participating properties will be participating in this foursquare special.

From now till July 2011, this special does require a confirmed reservation to earn Starpoints for foursquare check-ins. I believe this means that your reservations need to be updated with the correct SPG details in order for the Starpoints to be awarded successfully.

I pass, not comfortable with potential to reveal too much about my locations.

Ditto. Never heard of Foursquare, but now that I have checked it out there's no question this is not the kind of thing I am comfortable doing.

Cheers,

This statement confuses me. It doesn't track you everywhere you go, only where you check in. The only people that can see where your current location of check-in are the people at that location, who then only get your first name, and the people you allow (aka "friends").

Are you worried about marketing demographics being used? If you answer yes to any of the following questions then you are already in over your head (and being tracked on more than you think):

Do you use frequent traveler numbers (ie SPG, AAdvantage, Skymiles, etc.)?
Do you use grocery store savings cards (ie Kroger, Safeway, etc)?
Do you use a credit card?

No one should worry about social media being big brother unless they already worry about the million other big brother systems. Foursquare is the least of these since I and your current/future employer won't be seeing you in a bikini liking political campaigns and drunk messaging your own wall.

members on here have no issue saying where they have upcoming stays and future trips, but you do have an issue posting about it on fb or 4D?

this works on all kinds of stays, including award stays and C&P, yes?

Ummmm, you can turn off anything you are not comfortable with in settings.

exactly what i did too. had actually downloaded it 2 days ago but hadn't registered. i'm on droid 1 :/

nmind... just tried again and it worked. i really didn't want the app since there are so many complaints but there are incentives for several different companies for using it (especially now).

that's kind of redundant, yes? did you mean to say "All SPG participating properties" or "All SPG properties?"
