If I land via BA at 1600 would the 1805 to DPS be a very risky venture? No other flight after that till the next day which has no award seats. So either I risk that or book a $300 ticket in Y on Jet star. Separate tickets off course so would need to collect and check in again.

If BA flight is on time then it may take 10 minutes to get to immigration (depending on arrival gate), 30 minutes to clear immigration (assuming not a Singaporean resident) collect bags & clear customs (assuming nothing to declare), another 15 to get to check in and be checked in. Thus perhaps an hour from arrival until check in.
Allowing for check in closing you have a buffer of at most 30 minutes for the BA flight to be late. Seems risky to me, but whether to book flights with a longer gap depends also on the consequences of missing your DPS flight.

If you can do it with hand luggage only and stay airside then it should be a much more leisurely transfer.

I recently had a connection from T3 (EVA Air) to T4(the new LCC terminal) and had allocated 3 hours. It took less than 1 hour. Every step was fast and efficient, particularly at T4 where they have installed automatic check in terminals and automatic immigration terminals. It literally only took a minute to go through immigration. They are encouraging folks to go the automatic route so there were lots of folks there to assist. Common sense still says to allow plenty of time for that one instance when there are delays, but if your only choice is a short transfer, changi is the one place where you can probably make it work.

It seems BA11 is always around 30 mins late. That means an arrival of around 430 giving me 95 mins to clear immigration and check back in. Pushing it way to close.

I know BA won't tag your bags through but SQ might be able to re-tag your bags if you approach their transfer desk at T2., thus allowing you to stay airside. Granted, I've only done this on a T2-T2 connection, so I'm not entirely sure if they'll do it on a T1-T2 connection.

A little more research has pointed to this.
If you have your boarding pass, but your checked-in bags are only sent to Changi Please proceed to your nearest transfer lounge/ counter. At the transfer lounge, you may refer to the Transfer Information Passenger Display System (TIPDS) to find out which transfer counter you can request for your checked-in bags to be transferred to your departing flight.https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/ShowTo...ir_Travel.html

Q:What should I do if I have a connecting flight at Changi Airport?
If you are connecting from a full service carrier flight to another:If you have your boarding pass (with a seat allocation) for your connecting flight, you may proceed directly to the gate for your connecting flight. If you do not have a boarding pass for your connecting flight, you should proceed to the nearest Transfer counter in the terminal of your connecting flight. You will then be issued with a boarding pass and arrangements will be made for the transfer of your baggage to your connecting flight. If you are connecting to or from a budget airline flight:As most budget airlines do not have transfer counters in the Departure Transit Lounge, you will need valid travel documents (passport with at least 6 months validity, valid entry visa, etc) to clear Immigration and Customs. You have to collect your baggage and check-in again at the Departure Check-in Hall of your connecting flight. This does not apply to Scoot Thru and Tiger Connect passengers.Budget (low-cost) airlines that operates at Changi Airport include the following: Air Asia, Air India Express, Cebu Pacific Air, Firefly, Jetstar, Malindo Air, Lion Air, Scoot and Tigerair and Vietjet Air.For Passengers on Air France, KLM, Emirates, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Jet Airways, Qantas Airways or United Airlines connecting to your Jetstar flight on a single itinerary / ticket please proceed to Transfer C to check-in for your flight. For more information, please click here.

Just out of interest say if I send the family airside and run through immigration and baggage claim. What is the time required to get to check-in desk for SQ. Will they have any issues accepting 3 x 30kg bags under my name when the others are inside the airport still. We will be flying Business on BA and SQ.

I could be wrong, but I very much doubt they'll let you check-in luggage for passengers that are not present. If you can get it all on your luggage allowance that woukd be a safer option,

For my upcoming trip JFK-SIN-DPS, there is a ~90min layover in SIN in both directions. I've never transited in SIN before, from my research the arrival from JFK(FRA) will be a different terminal than the departing flight for DPS. I think I'll be fine if the incoming flights are on time, but I'm wondering how big of a buffer do I have for a delay and still make it out of SIN? Would they have a rep waiting at the gate to escort J passengers to the next flight if there is a delay? Also hoping that I'll have time to check out the lounge! TIA!
