I'm thinking ex-SIN to have the Lobster, just not sure what to do ex-SYD.

I'll also be booking a Zurich-Sydney too so will need to think about ex-Zurich.

Yes redemption 100% no problem getting BTC. Biz is Biz!

Ex Sydney please avoid the Lamb curry. Ex SIN lobster is good but I really liked the Beef Rendang (if u love spicy food).

Yeah there is no BTC ex-Zurich. But with ex-SYD, none of them look too exciting.

People have mentioned the Chicken Rice as something good to have.

But has anyone had the Roast Duck?

I tried a few BTC meals where available on MEL-ZRH return.
Although they were OK, as you don't know the full description of the meal, I think overall I'd rather choose from the standard menu where I can always find something good.

Given I haven't been able to make any selections because I think my flights are too far away,

When you do the BTC, are you simply choosing the "main" and then you still have the normal entrees etc like everyone else?

I've only ever had the meals off the menu in business and have never btc'd before.

Yes, BTC establishes your choice of main course. You will also receive "starters" and dessert from the menu.

I'll be on SQ 608 the overnight A333 SIN-ICN. Has anyone tried the 'Nonya Assam Fish' from the BTC menu?

I did but was not impressed.

The taste is actually pretty good but the portion is too small (it's in a small bowl not much bigger than a chinese rice bowl). It comes with rice which is a lot. To me, too much carbs and too little of the dish itself. The rice is dry too (at least on the flight I was particularly on).

So far, I like the nut-crusted fillet, and the new angus burger best. But these will be too heavy for me on night flights. I would pick the seared black cod for night flights, it was surprisingly perfectly-cooked and moist at least on the flight I was on.

Fish recommendations Ex-SIN

I ordered the following for my Mom's recent flight from TPE-SIN (SQ877 lunch) since she only wants to eat fish. She doesn't like stuff that's too sweet hence didn't choose the Teriyaki fish.

Cod fillet with citrus saffron cream sauce
Pan seared cod fillet with citrus saffron cream sauce, sundried tomato couscous and buttered vegetables.

I'm happy that she liked it. For the SIN-TPE segment (SQ878 lunch), any recommendations? The freaking menu is extensive..

I'm about to Book the Cook from Sydney and back. I want to do this as I like simple foods and I don't like all the fancy shmancy stuff up the front of the plane. I just want cereal or toast for breakfast, a simple chicken fillet and vegies... but I'll eat any desert!!!!

Had the duck red curry last week, very tasty
However a bit heavy, and perhaps shouldn't have had it on a 7 hour redeye

Yesterday, ex-PER there was no BTC, so I gambled and did Seafood Meal, and a nice fish and prawns came out. Even the pre meal sate was 3 skewers of snapper.

I was not able to book the cook. They told me the flight I am in don't allow book the cook (SQ638/SQ637). That was both via online (no menu shown - only the standard veggie option like in Y booking) and telephone. Is it because my flights are too far in advance (June 2015)?
