In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, CBP extended the period of time that Trusted Traveler Program applications remain active. All applicants now have TWO YEARS from the date that CBP conditionally approves their application to complete the enrollment process. In addition, CBP will extend the Trusted Traveler Program benefits of members who apply for renewal before their current membership expires pending the final approval of the renewal application.

Thank you for the update - really helpful - my 730 days expired in November but I had an interview scheduled in March, which I have managed to push back to a trip in April in case I can't do EOA the day before when I arrive. However, I've also now had a trip come up 4 weeks before that, so hopefully will get EOA sorted sooner. But great to know your application remained live.

Is your GE expiry date 5 years from conditional approval, or from the date of interview?

That's not accurate.

For a first-time applicant, the expiration date is five years after the first birthday following the final approval of the application. For example, if one receives final approval on July 1, 2022, and their birthday falls on January 1, the expiration date will be January 1, 2028.

For renewals, as long as the renewal application is submitted before the expiration date, the new expiration date is five years from the previous expiration date regardless of the dates of the conditional and final approvals. If the renewal application is submitted after the original expiration date, the new expiration date is calculated the same as it is for a first time application.

Just to close out on this, I flew via JFK T5 last week, 845 days after conditional approval but with an interview scheduled for April.

Was advised to pass through normal border processes, then visit a CPB office in the baggage area to see if an agent was available to do secondary processing for GE, as they did not do EoA at the front desks.

No more than a 15 minute wait for an agent, a few questions on the application form (really just a details check and " did you miss anything or spot any mistakes?"), and that was it, on my way and the approval came though about an hour later...

A long time coming, but pretty smooth in the end.

I have been sitting on my renewal interview for some time with COVID and I could have sworn I had until 2023 to renew, but I just got an email about my TTP account status changing so I logged in to look. And now it says they cancelled my Nexus account because "The applicant did not finalize program enrollment within the required time frame."

Has anyone else run into this? I'll call CBP tomorrow but just feeling very blindsided by this, I hadn't been able to find appointments since things opened up but thought I had more time so hadn't been looking closely again. I hope I didn't just misremember the dates

When did you receive the conditional approval?

I know it was during 2020 when they were extending dates and enrollment centers were closed, so in reading some of the posts above I wonder if I just misread the dates and my application did expire... given hard few appointments are available now, maybe this was just going to happen anyways! My wife had gone through the conditional approval just after me though (expire August 2020, grace period to August 2022) and hers says she has til Jan 2023 to schedule her interview.

CBSA added this paragraph recently to their NEXUS info page

Members who receive an email from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stating that their renewal application has expired can contact the CBSA ([email protected]) for assistance.

This is a concern and I suspect its because a few of us are now in the category of submitted renewal before expiry, received Conditional Approval and had interview set for early 2020 which was cancelled when the border shut down, several additional interviews set and cancelled due to situation, now officially past 730 days past card expiry.

My husband is now 2 months past the 2 year mark after expiry. Status still showing as Conditionally Approved but still no appts showing for interview (other than Sweetgrass previously mentioned above).

I was advised yesterday by a rep from the Western Provinces Nexus processing centre that the CBP is set to release a statement for mid April. Given our change for testing requirement removal is set for April 1st, that seems odd. I am hopeful it is regarding extending further beyond 730 days.

Is anyone else caught in this category now?

I entered Canada using the NEXUS kiosks at YYC and nothing was out of the ordinary. Sometime last year these kiosks updated my photo.
I took 2 TSA Pre-Check eligible flights with different airlines while in the US but did not receive PRECHEK on either of the boarding passes.

My spouse is in this category as well (card expired in February 2020, so just passed the 2-year benefits window). My son will be in this position in May if we aren't able to secure interviews by then, and I will be hit with it later this year.

I've already warned her that she shouldn't expect to get PreCheck benefits for our trip this weekend. If it shakes out differently I shall report back!

Im afraid it wont. The PreCheck benefits drop off right at the 730 day after expiry mark. We experienced that specifically between December 2021 (at just under 730) - they were in force still - to into new year 2022 (after 730) - they dropped off.

DHS cancelled my NEXUS application

I had originally applied in July 2019, and it took until February 2020 for it to be conditionally approved. As we all know, the pandemic hit, so all locations closed and my interview appointment was cancelled. Every time since then when an office I could get to opened up I rebooked, only for that appointment to be cancelled when locations closed again.

DHS cancelled my application today, saying I had not booked an appointment. I most certainly had, multiple times. I don't drive, so there was pretty much no way I could get to the locations that were open in the US (other than Calais ME, which has delayed opening until April 19).

I don't suppose there is any recourse? Effectively, they took my money in 2019, delayed approving far past normal timelines, and then wouldn't extend the deadline even though half of the locations are *still* closed.

Our 730 day extension end on May 15, 2022 to complete initial enrollment for conditional approved applications, and we were only able to schedule an appointment for July 17, 2022. So far no cancellations received from anyone, but nevertheless worried.
