For a first-time applicant, the expiration date is five years after the first birthday following the final approval of the application. For example, if one receives final approval on July 1, 2022, and their birthday falls on January 1, the expiration date will be January 1, 2028.

For renewals, as long as the renewal application is submitted before the expiration date, the new expiration date is five years from the previous expiration date regardless of the dates of the conditional and final approvals. If the renewal application is submitted after the original expiration date, the new expiration date is calculated the same as it is for a first time application.
