Which calender? They could mean Lunar new year.

There is no official definition of "turn". You're jumping to conclusions by ascribing dates to it.

Nothing wrong with that IMO. And that is why I also add after the date that what is your oponion about the turn. I do not think i should be blamed for state my interpretation.

I don't think one should apply BCE/CE (BC/AD) system to Chinese Lunar Calendar in the first place, although I know some do.

My "interpretation" is that no one should be trying to parse the meaning of "turn." It's a silly exercise.

If any of you do visit airliners.net there's a post in there (which I think is quite credible) that states "from the source inside MH, the joining date will be on 12.12.12 and making it the 12th OW member." So if at all it holds true, then in less than 8 weeks we will be able to start using OW status on MH.

Reminds me of when the 10th member joined in 2010 (which airline was that? MX?)

To celebrate Oneworld discounted Explorer fares by 10% for 10 weeks
So, I wonder....

IIRC, the discount was for 10th anniversary for oneworld alliance, not some 10th member of the alliance.

They also did that discount twice that year... 10 weeks from Feb 3 09 and another 10 weeks from 26 Aug 09. MX joined in November.

I am planning a trip for March 2013. I assume it would be safe to use MH flights with the belief that by then they will be available under the OneWorld RTW fare.

I would think that you would have to wait until they finalize joining OW before you could book their flights on a RTW fare.

Interestingly, for the last few months Malaysia Airlines appears in the Partner Airlines dropdown list on qantas.com.au when you go to book a QF ticket and insert a partner FF number.
Uninterestingly, its not listed as a partner airline for earning or redeeming flights with QFF.

They must be silent partners

Interesting...right now it shows MH accepts QFF but not the other way around on Abacus / Sabre. Maybe they will soon make an announcement.
