I'm waiting to hear about upgrades for my wife and me on Wednesday's IAD-CPH flight. Normally on the way over to CPH, I only opt for Plus, since I prefer to have the Business amenities during the day when I'm not trying (but failing) to sleep.
But then the other day, I saw the marginal price from Plus to Business on OT was $190 per person. (Total was thus $200 for Plus, and $390 for Business). The latter seems too cheap for us to be successfully upgraded. But I'm fine with Plus. I've been successful every time in the past since starting in 2011 (except when flight was cancelled once and another time got Plus but not Business).
I'm a little less optimistic this time (about either Plus or Business), especially since there are two of us traveling together.
I'll of course post my outcome...

$390 Go to Business is not usual cheap, especially for a flight to the east cost. I would say the normal price in the last two years. Has been significant cheaper in the earlier days. Paid about the same for CPH-SFO-CPH for Go to C.
I usually would opt for C for night flights for the sleeping comfort and Plus for day flights since the service is fine and the new Plus seat actually pretty comfy.

Glad to hear the new seats in Plus are good (they looked smaller to me, but perhaps better ergonomics). Though I'm not sure if IAD-CPH has the new design in yet or not.
I prefer the better food/liquor and the comfort when I'm awake on Business. The East Coast flights leave/arrive so early (1715/715--115 DC time) that I don't really sleep much, but perhaps I would in C.
I'll let you know the outcome...

I can sleep in Go, not a problem. It's just the back/neck pain wakeing up which makes C class seats so much more comfortable. But agreed, in theory paying for C class doesn't make too much sense as it never helped me to really get rid of jet lag when you can also crash in a economy seat and slumber. In the end I felt much better after JNB-FRA in LH Y then CPH-PVG in SAS C by just avoiding the jet lag.

As you point out, if stuck in Go, it might not be worth the neck pain the next day though...

I can happily report my wife and I did get the upgrade to Business for IAD-CPH tomorrow. Hoping I sleep better.
Does anyone know if SAS is now restricting luggage based on every leg? In the past, if I got upgraded to Plus/Business, that leg "dominated" a shorter Go connection flight. But currently on my booking it says 2 pieces for IAD-CPH but only one for CPH-Berlin TXL. I'm planning on bringing 3 total between my wife and me, so I'd be really annoyed if they charged for that extra bag--which is like $100.
I only have SA Silver, which doesn't give the extra bag. I guess I'll find out a check-in...

Thanks!
We should be fine on the return, as I bought Plus for TXL-CPH (which was only $40 more per person), since we'll be there for two days visiting our Danish friends before the CPH-IAD flight. Extra bag is filled with requests for things like Levi's and other things far cheaper in the US than in DK.
Of course, this assumes we're upgraded on the CPH-IAH return...

Apart from lounge access in Berlin (which is quite nice), Plus class will only get you a cup of coffee as opposed to Go where they won't get anything to drink at all! Enjoy your trip.

And the extra baggage allowance which makes a huge difference if you need the extra bag.

Did it fall into C or was it a temporary glitch from SAS side?

From checking in on-line for the IAD-CPH-TXL flights, I can confirm that the baggage allowance was indeed "2 x 32 kgs", so we'll have no problem with CPH-TXL only being in Go, I assume. I also noticed the IAD-CPH is still the older cabins (2-2-2 in Business Class).
