Alright, that's interesting. Would be interesting to know who qualifies for the offer and who doesn't.

What here 24 hours prier to departure becomes even more annoying is that SAS just mailed me the same upgrade offer Again. This Means that I have EUR 1748 out on UTO which is declined - and now SAS offers me the same prices (DKK 3600 each). In a few Words I feel screwed and so should OPTIONTOWN !

I can confirm the same pattern. i tried optiontown from Go to Plus on ARN-ORD last week. Already before getting the decline from optiontown I got the offer from SAS for the paid upgrade. However, the link in the email from SAS did not work (SAS IT!) but I would have declined in any way as it seems weird that SAS is competing with their own provider for paid upgrades. At the end, I did not get any paid upgrade but ended up having an operational upgrade. Furthermore, during this whole circus I was not able to change the seat online, check in online and they did not even give me a seat in the manual check-in (it just read GATE on the seat in boarding pass and they guy at check-in desk in ARN was not able to explain why). Finally in the lounge they were able to confirm the operational upgrade and give the seat. As a customer, I could not be more confused.

Do OT upgrades still credit to other *A programs as Z/P?

Knobbgb posted in the Aegean forum Mileage Run CDG to ARN - How many A3 miles that they hadn't tried to credit OT upgrades to A3, so I was wondering if anyone had recent experiences with crediting to non-SK FF programs. Thanks!

Since then I've taken my OT flights and I confirm that both credited automatically to my A3 account within a couple of days (A class, double points).

Isn't the whole idea behind OptionTown that you upgrade from one revenue booking class to another revenue booking class? The process should be agnostic to any FF program, wether EB or alternative StarAlliance programs. You get points based on the booking class on your final boarding card, not booked itinerary. For other programs what matters is most what your new booking class maps into in that program.

Upgrade GO to C on SFO-CPH on Thursday was just confirmed. This is the first time I got an upgrade confirmed 3 days in advance.

SK936 left SFO with 5 empty seats in C and some seats free in Plus. Go was quite full but definitely not oversold/overbooked. Not sure if SK/OT changed the way they approve the OT upgrades.

By the way they tried to sell cash upgrades from Plus to C and Go to Plus at the gate making public announcements. Interestingly enough no Go to C. I think the price was 3500DKK for a step up.

And for the first time I saw them put up huge signs to approach the Gate agents for upgrade via EuroBonus points.

Seems somebody realized you can make some money before flying empty in the premium cabins.

Still not sure why they can't manage to manage their Award inventory better and release award seats to interesting detonations a few days out. I could even live with next day bookings or same day standby.

Interesting! Might be a local US initiative, let's see.

I suppose the latter part of the sentence is a Freudian slip. Quite fitting in these times, though.

Optiontown obviously doesn't see TLV as a European destination.
My upgrade offer CPH-TLV, TLV-CPH on Optiontown is 165€ outbound and 158€ homebound. From GO to PLUS.
Optiontown also sells upgrades to Business for TLV - and there is no Business class.

OT's upgrade process is so different from what I'm accustomed to, so I guess I assumed that, unlike EB, other programs might still only "see" the original booking class and not the new "upgraded" one.

On another note, what are "reasonable" OT offers for TATL travel to/from the US? I think I saw upthread that €700 for Go to Business was high, so I'm guessing that ~€200 for Go to Plus or Plus to Business and ~€400 for Go to Business is more the norm?

If you get the upgrade ahead of time they will exchange the e-ticket with a new one reflecting the new booking class and you will have no issue with crediting the miles to any *A program. If they approve the upgrade "subject to availability" it might get tricky to get the Z class miles awarded if you do not credit to EuroBonus. Fixing wrong crediting issues between EB and OT works pretty good though.

200€ and 400€ is a good price nowadays, just paid 173€/372€ and 189€/409€ for CPH-SFO-CPH and was happy with the price-tag. A couple of years back (~2) I scored CPH-PVG Y to C for under 300€ but haven't seen any deal this low since then.

I would not pay 700€ for the upgrade unless the base-fare was super-cheap, 560€ and 390€ in my recent case.
