First time I've flown business, probably the last 'opportunity' for me to try the old C cabin...
Congrats on at least getting it on the way back! Based on our two data points this summer one might guess CPH-IAD is harder to get and OT upgrade than IAD-CPH, but I suspect that's coincidence. I'm quite ready for the IAD-CPH flight to be get the new cabin, which I assume will happen before I likely fly that route again (spring/summer of 2016).

Unless the seating chart is incorrect on both SK and Expertflyer, IAD-CPH will be the refurbished A330 for my flight in early October.

Two for two on CPH/SFO SFO/CPH

I got upgraded from Go to Business on 28th of August on CPH-SFO and also on the return trip SFO-CPH on 3rd of September.
Both upgrades verified around 80 hours prior to departure.

This is my first time using optiontown. So far I'm 2/2 for upgrades.

Booking class changed to Z on both legs and points awarded accordingly to my account.

Do you have any status with SK? Your profile doesn't have anything listed. Perhaps a brief insight in how much you fly with them would be appreciated as well. Would be an interesting metric for the folks on here trying to figure out SK's upgrade policy and your example would potentially contribute to their case of SK prioritising non status upgrades.

I think OT upgrades are not influenced by status. I think OT doesn't even know the status of the pax. As I understood it it works:

SK revenue management makes a bet T-72 how many seats can be released to OT and OT will then upgrade based on their secret formula which is based on price paid, time offer was placed, number of offers place in the past, number of those cleared etc.

I'm diamond with SK. Could have influenced perhaps. My colleague whom is only silver also applied for upgrades on both trips both was only put in plus for both legs where availability was much better.
It was C3 for SFO-CPH when my upgrade went through.

Hey fassy!

two weeks in a row I got no upgrade inspite of free seats in Plus. The routing is always TXL-CPH-ZRH. on none of the legs.

Iīm just LH S (FTL) and donīt get it why it didn't work.

I did though complain about a delay on a SAS hotline some weeks ago as they had a delay over 90min to ZRH. at that point they did upgrade me to Plus.

I know it might sound ridiculous but: do u think that SAS put me on a black list as far as these upgrades r concerned?

have been using it quite often and got in 90% upgraded...

thanx for your response

No idea, I do not work for OT, neither for SK. Although, I do not think that the complaining had anything to do with it. For me it seems they dished out a lot of upgrades even though the original cabin wasn't overbooked when they started the intra-european OT to get people to sign up and now went back to the "cabin needs to be overbooked" rule.

A couple of weeks ago I completed a return CPH-ORD. The ticket was booked in plus (points +cash , booking class "P" ). I had signed up for an optiontown upgrade to biz for both legs, and was succesfull in getting both legs upgraded to business ("Z" class). My eurobonus account has also been credited with points for Z class.
But I canīt help wondering if my upgrade was due to Optiontown or not, since I didnīt hear a one single word from Optiontown regarding the upgrades. Wouldnīt they send a confirmation email along the lines of "Your optiontown upgrade was succesfull".

Yes. They do send a confirmation e-mail.
Maybe check your spam box, that's where my e-mails from OT end up.

Like Helosc confirms, there is always a confirmation wether you are upgraded or not and the email reflects that status.

The other way to find out is if OT has reimbursed your creditcard. However, since you where upgrade to Z and not I and received points for the trip, it is very likely you received an OT upgrade.

Iīm absolutely sure I didnīt get any mails from Optiontown in relation to the trip. Havenīt heard from them since I signed up for the upgrade offer several months ago. But since I was credited with Z class points , very likely it was an optiontown upgrade as FlyingMoose noted.

But Iīm still somewhat puzzled , since after I had signed up for the upgrade I learned from posts on this thread , that there was absolutely no way an upgrade would clear on a points+cash ticket . So maybe SAS has changed policy in this regard ?
