What's so surprising about that? You'll see anything and everything auctioned on eBay, whether allowed or not. I've seen airline award tickets, upgrades, employee "buddy passes," etc. auctioned on eBay, too, even though they're not allowed to be sold. Not exactly surprising that someone would auction their caps and/or the rewards they redeemed (the latter being allowed, the former not).

It's surprising, because I don't normally troll the ebay boards. It's funny, because it highlights the fact that people will try and make money on ANYTHING. It's interesting, because to get 3000 Delta miles I would need to drink almost 400 bottles of Coke, which at around $1.40 a bottle is over 550 bucks - but there are people who have already done it for me and are willing to part with their points. :D

Denny's

I read earlier on this thread that there are My Coke Rewards redemption codes on Denny's coasters. Can anyone describe for me what these coasters look like? Has anyone spotted them at a Denny's in the Milwaukee/Chicago area?

Collecting the caps/codes is only worth it, IMO, if you drink it anyway. We happen to drink a lot of soft drinks, and with this promo, I've focused only on Coke products. If you don't want to drink/purchase the Coke necessary for you to receive the rewards you want, then you can choose not to participate, purchase the codes, or do what others have done, and get friends/co-workers to save codes, clean out garbage cans, etc.

"Timely" alert

This morning I received an email alert from My Coke Rewards that "inventory was running low" on my favorite redemption, the 2000 Point Priority Club award.

That award has not been available for months.

What is it with these people anyway??????

Anyone else get an email stating they were incorrectly credited for a referral bonus and had the points rescinded? I have not referred anyone, never had points removed, and still got the letter.

Plus, they're not responding to two requests I sent about illegible codes?!!

Account works fine, but customer service seems to be having some issues!

I got the same email, which also included the Best Buy gift card that has been gone for at least as long. What is with this company?

I received the same e-mail. I at first thought it was a phishing scam, but when I logged into my account without using any links from the e-mail, my account had been reduced by 10 points.

I went back through my records and determined that they had in fact given me two bonuses for my only referral (it was so long ago, I had forgotten) -- so in my case, it was a legitimate correction.

Did the deduction appear as recent activity or did you have to dig around to find it?

breaux124 Sep 7, 2007 2:43 pm

I've gotten most of my points from co-workers who don't use their caps and some from the vending machine guy who one week refilled using normal cases.

Is there a consensus of what are some of the better points deals? I don't fly delta, so mile there aren't worth it for me. I've only gotten the Blockbuster Coupons. With just under 500pts, what looks good?

The 10-point deduction is dated 9/4/07 and is labelled "RAF Credit Duplication Error"

well, i referred someone, and gave them all of the bonus codes that were active at the time (which were enough to get me the referral bonus), and i never got the points. i just assumed that the referral bonus worked only when the other person input hard codes.

not surprisingly, i didn't get the email.

I don't troll eBay either but this doesn't surprise me in the least. Apart from eBay, one only needs to watch infomercials or read any of your spam to see that people will go to great lengths to make money off of whatever they can, whether honest or not. Heck, just read craigslist and you'll be amazed at what people even give away, much less sell.

First, you can find bottles for much less than $1.40... 2-liter bottles can often be found for around $1 on sale, and multi-packs of 20-oz bottles can also be had for less than $1/bottle. Moreover, bottles are probably the least cost-effective way to get points; 12-packs, 24-packs, and Costco mega-packs of cans tend to be better values in terms of points (though not in terms of actual liquid contents).

But yes, it's not the best deal out there... but then, anyone who actually increases their soft-drink consumption specifically because of this (or any) promo clearly doesn't know how to do a simple cost-benefit analysis. One should treat this as a simple bonus on top of product they would be purchasing anyway, or as a tie-breaker between equally-priced brands... not as a reason to increase consumption. (Of course, this does not exclude any non-consumption code accrual such as dumpster diving. :))

For us, since we drink a lot of soft drinks anyway, we've just stopped buying Pepsi when it's on sale, but will buy extra Diet Coke when it's on sale. The local grocery stores typically alternate on a weekly basis. We just buy more (stop on the way home, etc.) when they have Coke, and don't stop when they have Pepsi.
