To me Coke and Pepsi are identical. I know they aren't to a lot of people but to me they are and I will buy strictly on price, however since this game started I would pay a small premium, say up to 25 cents per twelve pack for the MCR game.. once MCR started pulling the awards that I preferred such as Hilton and Priority club.. jacked up the DL rewards to ridiculous levels, I stopped paying even that small premium and strictly by on price.. if one is 1.99 per 12 pack and one is 2.00 even.. I'll go with the 1.99... thats how much of a commodity this stuff is to me.. the game can get me to buy their product but the moment they start Effing around with me.. I will stop buying their product and go to the other side and even pay a small premium not to buy coke products.. I am not there but I can see how I would be if they stiffed me like that.. yes even if it was by the rules, you and I know well, that these things (rules) are or can be over-ridden if they want too. If they don't want to, then they just don't want the business plain and simple

It is a bid ridiculous that you would stop buying Coke products because they followed the rules. I buy drinks because I like them, not because of the reward program. A reward program or contest might get me to try something, but it wouldn't keep me buying it, unless I preferred the product over others.

I feel cheated by the crazy inflation on reward prices, but not by the expiring account rules. |

So you feel that if you lost the account after 90 days of no activity, then Coke has "stiffed" you?
I feel cheated by the crazy inflation on reward prices, but not by the expiring account rules. "Hello Michael, You're very close to losing your 0 points." I really don't use the program that much, because I usually drink single cans at work. (Hey, they are free to me, so I don't mind losing the MCR points :) ) I have about 400 points and have redeemed about 200 others. OF course, if the points are import to people, then these people should find some method of updating their account before they expire. You don't even have to do it often, just once in 3 months. If you aren't doing that, then you really aren't in the target audience for this promotion. |
I guess I started all this...
I remember reading the original post about how he was leaving Coke and moving to Pepsi. Listen, I'm not even a huge Coke fan. Most likely when this contest is a distant memory I will move back to my favorite drink Dr. Pepper and be a very happy man. But Coke gave me a fairly easy way to earn skymiles. I looked for those little caps everywhere I go. I've pulled them out of trash cans, picked them up in parking lots and on baseball fields and asked shoppers for their 12-pack codes as they were checking out in super markets. I guess it always rubs me the wrong way when people feel like they have been treated poorly because "they" can not follow the rules. Entering a code once every ninety days is a very small thing to do in a very complicated world. I have no sympathy for the OP and his somebody done me wrong warbling rubbed me the wrong way when I first replied. I just have a problem when people say they are being treated poorly and basically not accepting the fact or responsibily that YOU screwed up. Not the Coca Cola company. Nuff said.
Just redeemed three of the 50 point codes and another 850 skymiles. Thanks COKE. LS |

I missed something. Where do you get 50 point codes? How does 3 x 150 MCR equal 850 skymiles?

To those who asked
Many of the problems I had were my fault.
I never saw the official rules, thus didn't know about having to enter codes periodically. Like MYPoints, I save up emails and do them all at one time. I tried doing that with the coke numbers and soon found out about the daily limit. I don't live in Atlanta anymore and now realize that Coke doe NOT rule the world :-) You know, wit hhurricanes and tsunami warnings and earthquakes and a full time job, I find that the hassles of the coke rules are not conducive with my lifestyle. Besides, there are waves to surf and dolphin to swim with. Here in Hawaii there are currently offering a 12 pack offer, buy 2 nd get 3 free and the price per can is STILL more expensive than Safeways cola price. My local store often sells 2 liter bottles at over $2. Anyway, on a lark I decided to enter Coke numbers and didn't read the rules. Now that I have, no thanks. |

You're my hero. I've spent a lot of time at the recycle center and begged all my friends, but haven't had the nerve to try that one yet. :p

I think I asked maybe 10 people and every one said absolutely. It took a while to get up the nerve but then it was easy. The most they can do is say no.
LS Do people really let you do this???? |

Even if I wasn't collecting the codes myself, I don't think I'd let you rip open my cardboard carrying box so that all the diet coke cans can roll around in the trunk of my car, then fall out of the now unstable said carrying case on the way to the garage, where they will remain stored until needed, only to get bugs and what not inside with the cans.

Didn't there used to be a 20 point blockbuster movie rental code? Are those days just over?

Apparently, from reading this thread since the beginning of the promotion, some grocery store chains occasionally print out an extra code on the cash register receipt. I'm guessing this is what the poster requested. Otherwise, I'm with you. Who would open up a 12 or 24-pack when checking out just to be nice to a stranger?
cheers, LS |

Now why would you want to go around guessing what a poster meant? Why not just ask? No, I was NOT talking about the bonus codes given out at the register. I was talking about the codes from the box. It is on the top section and does not require taking off the entire end. I've actually gotten quite good at taking those things off without ripping open the box and doing it so the cokes do not spill out. If you are not washing or rinsing the can off before you drink it then bugs are probably the least of your worries. I don't think they are actually sterilized while at the factory or sitting outside at your local convenience store. Also if you think bugs cannot get inside just because they are in a carton, well I think you might be surprised. I'm still not sure how they get in light fixtures. Do you use the little carry handle when taking them to your garage? the one that requires you to break the airtight seal on the carton? If so, I hope you tape it up once inside. Also might want to tidy up your garage a bit. Man, I'm in a mood today! Guess that op about moving over to Pepsi got me going. No one had a moments hesitation when giving me the codes and several stated "sure, I'm just going to throw them away". Only awkward moment was when I asked someone who knew me and my sister by name and I was clueless. Carried on a 5 minute conversation without letting on that I had no idea who he was. Again, it is VERY easy to take of the top portion with the code and leave the box 99% complete thus resulting in no stray cans in your trunk or rolling around on your lawn.
cheers, LS You must be talking about a code location I have never seen. All of the cartons of Coke I have seen with the MCR code require you to open the box because the code is printed on the inside flap. I suppose you can guess where the code is and try to tear a small hole in the box without using the perforations or tear a few perforations and shine a flash light inside, but I don't think that is what you are saying. |
