I am definitely on QR for 3 of the 4 legs.
It was a weird booking as it was PE on AA JFK-DOH , QR Economy DOH-MAA
Return was all Business on QR. MAA-DOH-SFO
I had to book it this way to keep in the approved cost envelope and then I was able to upgrade the AA leg as EXP right away.
Good to know on the Gold Lounge. It's not a huge amount of time.
The biggest issue is in Chennai, not an easy airport and they don't have a lounge. The shared lounge isn't great at all as I leave at 3:50 AM.

It is likely to be no access based on the ticket due to the P. But if you had QRPC platinum that will get you in to the status lounges and AS. Any other oneworld status means you can visit the status lounges.

Based on the long haul being "P" I suspect you do not have access to Al Mourjan

In any event you will have somewhere comfortable to hang out: the exact venue will sort itself out on the day. Please report back!
As a Plat arriving in long-haul R, connecting to regional Y I'm happy to leave it to the lounge angels to decide my fate. I can't see much point trying to second guess the system, though I'm pretty sure where destiny will lead me....

Thanks guys. Pretty much as I suspected & I absolutely knew there would be challenges when I booked the ticket
.
Incredible (& somewhat pathetic, frankly) that QR's system is so unfathomable that none of us can be 100% sure what's applicable in these scenarios!
My layover outbound is only 90 minutes, so not much time anyway & my inbound is 160 minutes so once again no biggie. I am (outbound) travelling with Mrs. NoY & she is on a much more flexible ticket (R/A or D/A, IIRC) so she's fine
BTW I have OW sapphire with BA & QR so will be catered for anyway.
I'll report back in early November

I think the confusion arises primarily because QR do not have a separate fare code letter for business class ticket holders accommodated in the F cabin on intra-gulf routes (accommodated there purely because there is no J cabin - think of it like an op-up). So their system indicates A for the short sector but you are actually still travelling on your business class ticket basis throughout.
You will accrue avios and qpoints throughout the journey according to the business class fare you booked into. And likewise if your business fare does not include lounge access (ie. P) you will still not have lounge access, just as you would not if you were sat in a J cabin throughout (unless you are QR Platinum). But if your fare is R or above, premium lounge access is included, and that currently includes Al Safwa.
Yes it is confusing but there is also some logic if you consider it like that. It is only people who are able to buy first class tickets from their origin to the gulf destination who are actually travelling on a first class fare on those intra gulf sectors.

I was just typing something similar to KingCanute's excellent post.
I find QR approach logical.
I don't think that the ticket mentions that you have access to AS or AM. The rules for a P ticket apply throughout.
Of course, the lounge dragon might make an exception, but that is an exception.to the rule.

IF Wife and I are going DFW-DOH-CPT in business lite I'm AA EXP/OWE and she is AA PP/OWE (She may be OWS next year) can we choose seats? And what lounge can we use? Side question is there smoking areas in the lounges or nearby?
Thank you

If your AA FF number is attached to the ticket, you should get free seat selection on all fares. And youll get access to the Platnium lounges at DOH. Im not sure about smoking rooms in the Platnium lounges, but since they have them in AS and the AMs, and it being the Middle East, I would think they would exist in the Platnium lounge too. And if not, there are scores of smoking rooms located throughout the terminal.

AM aware that Business Lite fares do not include Lounge Access. I will be departing Singapore in late December bound for Europe. Am I able to purchase lounge access for the Qatar Lounge at Changi? I do have One World Silver Status so would that suffice to get me into the Qatar lounge at Changi?
Paid access to the QR premium lounge is not available accroding the the qatarairways website listing for the lounge
I am not sure what One World Silver status is, One World has Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby
QR Silver is One World Ruby
BA Silver is One World Sapphire (BA has a Bronze that is OW Ruby)

As ScottishPoet says no QR premium lounge access. Assuming you mean you have OneWorld Sapphire status you could access the Qantas lounge if you're there when it's open.
