Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

The Q Suite Master Thread

I'm kinda hoping JFK-DOH and DOH-PER get upgraded to the Q suite by end of 2018. It'd be nice if they also upgraded to A350/787 but I'm not sure what the plan is there. I like Qatar Airways because I could get pretty cheap J flights. This year not so much. And looking at some random dates next year, it's crazy expensive. No idea why. The seat was always the weak point however. For one it was a 2-2-2 configuration and I never wanted to clamber over someone or have them clamber over me (and you couldn't choose a seat before paying). But the biggest problem was that the feet section has no support so if you're reasonably tall like I am when it's completely flat the bottom part sags so you're lying at an uncomfortable angle (>180 degrees). It took me awhile to realize the best workaround was to simply not put it all the way back but that's awkward too. So I'm really looking forward to the new seats.
So this time around I'm flying Cathay, which I think edges out QR for me with it's 1-2-1 configuration and good layover times (one leg on QR for me is 10 hours in the airport) although QR's wine list is better (amazing in fact).

http://www.qrcargo.com/checkrouting is pretty accurate for the next 5-6 weeks and this thread should contain news of where Qsuites aircraft are employed.
QR0702 15-DEC-2017 JFK-DOH 77I
And this change starting on December 16:
QR0702 16-DEC-2017 JFK-DOH 77P
Does the letter change from 77I to 77P indicate a change to Q-Suites on that aircraft?

Ha ha that makes sense now. You will prob need to spend a few hours looking around the QR forum to get the feel,of this common question. As with Many people each have differing views. One thing is for certain that all their aircraft on long haul sectors have lie flat seats, although I am now opening up a can of worms as there is much debate on whether the 777 seat ( not the new q suites ) are actually 180 degrees . The other aircraft in the fleet that may cover this route have different j class lie flat seats. Some like them some don't, some find them offering more privacy , some find them space restrictive - again personal preference. For me I still like the 777 seats and space , however they will gradually be replaced with the new q suite, however roll out of these is going to take some time. There is the additional conundrum with QR is they are renowned for last minute equipment swaps so do not book on the strength of the type of aircraft and accept that there maybe a change near to day of travel. I speak from experience in July hen I was scheduled on the 777 Qsuite and it was changed a few days before hand. Either way I have been extremely lucky to fly on all the j class seats and can honestly say that they all, have advantages and disadvantages , but overall when comparing to our home airline they are ink a different league IMHO. hope this helps .

rje444 if you look at the Wiki on The Complete Guide to the Qatar Airways Fleet you will find many of the aircraft type codes. 77P is indeed the Qsuites fitted 773.
For your, and anyone else who is interested, information: At the bottom of the QR dashboard there are widgets for seating plans and discussions for many different QR aircraft types. Extremely useful sources of information.
