How many redeemable Alaska miles would one earn booking AMD-SIN-MAN-IAH? 42,280 or 28,180?

Alaska shows a 100% bonus but OMAAT calculated it based on 200%, unless I'm just reading it all wrong?

I'm counting on OMAAT being right (and he usually is). Without any sort of elite multiplier, the redeemable is looking like 100% + 100% for discount business (U,D) or 2X actual miles traveled.

My o/w AMD -> SIN (2,580 mi) / SIN -> EWR (9,535 mi.) should yield ~24,230 redeemable miles. [ 2 X (2580 + 9535) ].

Could not resist and booked this trip as an add on to my already existing Swiss promo fare from CDG to GRU... instead of going home now going to India and New York
Thanks for posting :-)

It is definitely 100% EQM (EQM is also RDM) PLUS 100% Bonus RDM plus any Elite Bonus. Unfortunately, SQ does not also give a Class of Service Bonus COS like most of the other Alaska Partners in Premium Cabins. A return on this Itinerary would only be a short flight away of MVP Status. This is how it would post to Mileage Plan.

Hope this clarifies it for you. I love how easy it is to earn meaningful RDM on AS. BA accrues EQM & RDM in premium Classes. West coast USA/CAN to CPT SA in First A would earn enough EQM to attain MVPG and produce 101K RDM. A little off topic, but available for $6.5K return. Do that in January 2019 and you are MVPG until the end of 2020.

has anyone had any success pricing this D fare out through a portal? i've tried UR/MR online and by phone, and nobody seems to be able to price it, claiming various reasons (no seats left, fare changing, all of which are not true). EF shows D4 for many dates still, and i can get seats/everything through payment on SQ website.

cash poor & points rich (gold 75k), using only 86k UR (1.5cpm), earning ~40k AS is not a bad option!!

Thank you OP, booked for next year since I am going to Delhi for sightseeing, instead of coming back to north America after vacation, I am still coming back, but I will take a round trip to try this the world's longest flight and credit it to AS. round trip USD$2398.71

To position, I think I will redeem from AS an one-way ticket on EK: JFK-DXB-AMD.
AS could not get me EK awards, so I have the following itinerary, outbound on JL; return on SQ:

JFK - NRT (award)
overnight layover
NRT - DEL (award)
stop
DEL-AMD (cash)
quick layover
AMD-SIN (cash)
daytime layover
SIN-EWR (cash)

$1,300+ to travel 22.5K miles - not bad.

Folks I don't recommend a quick transit in AMD, especially if there is domestic-int'l terminal transfer required. They are in different terminals that require a car transfer, with the exception that all Air India DEL-AMD flights arrive/depart from international terminal.

The situation is especially bad around early-December to late-January when many flights easily get 3-4 hours delay due to havoc caused by dense fog across North India, which includes Delhi. Now November is also bad due to air pollution around Delhi (last year United cancelled EWR flight for several days just because of this).

Long story short, flight delays are common and airports are not efficient where simple task like going through immigration + security check could easily take more than an hour. Adding to extreme weather conditions things can get even worse. Make sure to have plenty of time for lay-over at Indian airports.

A little bit of both I have been both Tokyo and Singapore a bunch of times already, so one day/night is sufficient. Will be seeing India for an extended time.

Thanks for the advice!

I have not booked the flight between DEL and AMD yet (not traveling on this itinerary until next year). I have a number of days to enjoy India, and definitely can arrive at AMD the night before (if not more to check out the city), which would give me at least 24 hours before the SQ flight.

Thank you!

I thought I put enought time between my flights... however, your post makes me a little nervous. My plan is as follows:
  • 28.10.2018, 09:35 am: Landing in DEL with Air India, coming from CDG
  • 28.10.2018, 13:30 pm: Flight from DEL to AMD with IndiGO
  • 28.10.2018, 15:15 pm: Landing in AMD
  • 28.10.2018, 23:05 pm: Depart from AMD with SQ
Not planning on doing anything in India, maybe, if everything is on time, a little stroll outside AMD airport. (BTW: any suggestions?)

It's located in the restricted area so without the boarding pass you'll not be able to use (as without it you cannot clear the transit security). Not possible for domestic transits, unless your next flight is on any AI 010-399/900-999 which depart from international wing.

You'll have a plenty of time in AMD but DEL transit can be a risky one, especially as I can see AI 142 from CDG gets delayed very frequently. That time in the morning is not peak-hours so it shouldn't take too much time to clear immigration, but if you are going there with an e-visa the queue could be very long that could easily take an hour. If you'd have a sticker visa from Indian Consulate abroad, it'll take much less time as these days there aren't many foreign visitors with pre-arranged visa and there is no need to line up at busy e-visa counters. Once you're out from exit, you'd need to then transfer to Terminal 1, which can take about 15 minutes to reach and the baggage drop counter closes 45 minutes before departure. If your AI flight is on-time then it should be fine but based on their on-time performance it's like playing Russian roulette. On the positive side, there are plenty of flights between DEL-AMD so even if you miss your intended flight you still have enough time to make it to your SQ departure flight.

In AMD, since you are arriving in late afternoon there wouldn't be enough time for sightseeing as most of them close in the evening. I'd recommend getting a room near-by the airport (like The Ummed Ahmedabad) and relax there.
