There are many good UP-fares from LAX and LAS to PTY, different according day of travel, minimum stay and available booking class (in economy class and business/first I/P-cl). Fares were also combinable.
The good thing is, that those fares were mileage based :-). No fix routing, you can top up the fare up to 25MPM, of course with a surcharge up to 25% of the fare.

Just put on hold the following: dfw-las-lax-mia-pty-mia-lax-dfw all in Business Class and First for $1200 on AA for travel on August 29-31. Total miles are 9513. Not as cheap as I would of liked but should get some good bonuses in my trek towards EXP. What is everyones thoughts?
I booked AUS-LAX-MIA-PTY, departing 9/19 at 3 pm turnaround same day on 9/20 at 3.15 pm PTY-MIA, land at 7.20 pm and leave next morning 9/21 at 5.50 pm MIA-DFW-AUS.
First all the way , for $1,158/ Total Miles is 9470. And I guess with the AA promotion we get 100% bonus as well,
I think it's not a bad deal for either of us, since if we had to price the LAX-MIA-PTY r/t it would have come to around $800+ and the AUS-LAX r/t economy would have come to $200 plus, so trying First all the way and earning 100% miles is sweet.
Can anyone clarify
-If Miami has a 24 hour lounge and
-if the 100% bonus miles qualify towards EQM ?

Me and my wife got back from PTY on Monday night after spending a couple of days at the Le Meridien (for $120/night). Arranged a cab from the hotel to pick us up for $40 just to keep things easy. Uber is available and we used it for the rest of the trip - it turned out to be about 50% of the taxi service provided by the hotel in terms of the cost.
Seems like a nice modern city. Checked out some condos for sale, tried a few different types of restaurants (Riesen was great and El Trapiche for local food was yummy as well), visited the canal (2-3 hours max) and spent a few hours visiting old town as well.
My routing was LAX-JFK-MIA-PTY-MIA-JFK-LAX and I earned about 18K EQP's and 27K RDM. I am doing this again next week but this time I arrive in the afternoon and leave next day at 6.40AM. I plan to stay at the Crowne Plaza which is close to the airport.
Thanks for the deal. After next week I will be close to 95K EQP's!!

Booked LAX-JFK-MIA-PTY-MIA-JFK-LAX in late Feb, I and P fares for 815 USD. Quite good value that too, IMO.

Indeed -- factor in the RDM (if you value them at 2 cpm [on the high side]) and you're essentially only paying ~$300 for a business class seat with lie flat transcon segments.

26 Feb LAX-JFK
27 Feb JFK-MIA-PTY
28 Feb PTY-MIA-JFK
29 Feb JFK-LAX
Quite many combinations were available. I chose some 6-12 hrs layovers at JFK and about 18 hrs at PTY.

So since this is business /first class, do the bonus miles, count towards EQM ?

Unfortunately the bonus does not counts toward EQM -- it's only good for future award bookings. If you are looking to qualify on EQP, since this fare is discount business there is a 1.5 multiplier.
