Question for those whom have requested/obtained status matches past the mid-year point- was your match just valid for that year?

Trying to determine whether to match now or wait till January.

I am Platinum status with IHG and had called Kimpton In Touch to see if they match status & they did very willingly upgrade me to Inner Circle Status. I stayed at the Hotel Monaco - Alexandria, VA this past Sunday for 1 night. Got a great rate on Hotwire and called to have my Inner Circle ID attached to the reservation. Checked in on Sunday and was upgraded from a Queen room to the Mediterranean Suite - 800 sq. ft with living room, separate king size bedroom, very large bathroom with double sinks, Fuji jacuzzi tub, etc. In the room was a cheese tray, sparkling water, & a bowl of mixed nuts/granola. The service I received had to be one of the best experiences I have ever had at a hotel. Everyone from the minute I arrived to checkout was exemplary. I was greeted by name whenever I approached any employee at the hotel. How do they do that???.....All in all a spectacular experience...

New Hotel Palomar - San Diego

I know the Inner Circle Program (before I was eligible) used to give you a free night when they open new hotels. Does anyone know if they do this anymore? I would love to try out this new spot, looks beautiful! (but will probably not want to pay for a night there, at least not this year - hopefully sometime next year will have a business trip to SD.)

Kimpton ROCKS

Had a reservation made for Muse this upcoming weekend. Something happened to my reservation. Tweeted. Within 5 minutes I had a response and all was worked out. VERY impressive!

They've discontinued the free night at new hotels. They may be transitioning to an elite weekend where there's one particular weekend where they invite elites in and give them a free night. They did that with the Eventi. I don't know if they know yet what they'll be doing with the new San Diego property.

Has anyone ever received anything (whether email or mail) that welcomes you to InnerCircle and spells out the benefits of it (i.e... something besides what's on the Kimpton website)? Been IC for two years now, and haven't received anything, but didn't know if that was normal.

You receive an email once you qualify and a welcome package that includes a list of benefits as well as an Inner Circle card (unfortunately the material of the card isn't quite nice). You also receive the emails with special IC rates. Last one was for the July 4th weekend where booking to any hotel was at a fixed rate of 100.

Kimpton - The Muse - New York City

Stayed at the Muse in New York City this last weekend. One night was my free certificate; the other a paid night stay from the fall promotion offered in the summer. Finding the property was a bit difficult. Upon arrival there were three front desk clerks working. There were many people around the desk which I found out later they were all one family. I waited 20 minutes before a clerk motioned to me to come over. No hello, welcome to the Muse, etc. No acknolwedgement of my IC status.

Room was lovely. Was upgraded to an Executive King room. Upon entering the standard bottle of red wine with 3 very small cheese bites and 3 crackers were in the room along with a note. Those are not my selections on my profile - gave the wine away; left the cheese bites untouched. Later I received my card for the Raid on the Mini-bar. I like that in a NYC property the limit is $15 where the rest of the country it is $10. There was a selection of drinks including Coke products and 3 different beers. The Eventi mini-bar had a much greater selection than the Muse.

I liked that they had a FedEx envelope in the closet on a hanger. I thought that was creative and a nice way to provide an "extra service." However; that is where it ended. The staff at this property had a could care less attitude. The bell staff especially was just awful; could not be bothered whatsoever. We were running close to the time for a dinner reservation. Asked if they could get a cab for us. Was told "well you can take the house car we have." We said "great, how much is it?" His response was $45 (it was a 2 mile ride). We then said "no thanks, we'll wait for a cab." He then said "well you'll have to wait 15 - 20 minutes. Didn't whistle to get a cab; didn't walk to the corner to flag one down, etc. We decided to walk and get a cab a block away. There were various issues with the staff at this property. Not nearly as impressive as the staff at the Vintage Hotel or Hotel Monaco or Hotel Palomar.

Wine hour was ridiculous. There were well over 60 people in the lobby which can comfortably hold about 30! No way to get a glass of wine; there were no appetizers available. Went upstairs and had some wine that I had purchased.

On the first floor there are a number of different stalls in the bathroom. There were 2 that were pretty cool but the rest were OK. A friend of mine also stayed there this weekend. In her room there was a tear in the lamp in her sitting area. The elevator broke while there as well. The lobby was lovely albeit small. The bar/restaurant is right off the lobby and was somewhat small.

Thanks - if anyone from Kimpton is reading this, that would be a wonderful idea!

That was great! I don't think you can work for Kimpton unless you have a great sense of humor.

Trip Report - Helix - Washington DC

Stayed here for one night. Tried booking online but the website wouldn't go through for payment. Called Kimpton. Explained that the price online was less expensive than what I was being quoted. Had screenshot. Agent wouldn't match price. Checked into hotel at midnight. Was told they didn't have a room with a King bed (which is what I had booked). Told I could have a room with two bunk beds and a King or one queen. I waited a few minutes and voila! A room with a King bed opened up. Went up to the room. Huge in size but weird layout. Bathroom was VERY VERY tiny. Difficult to walk between the bed and the wall. Nightstands have no room to place things. Nice TV. The hotel has a "Jetsons" feel to it; was told that it's supposed to be a production type place. Didn't get that vibe at all. Mini-bar was OK; didn't use my Raid the minibar coupon nor did I use the continental breakfast coupon. Staff was definitely not "Kimpton-like." Rather unhelpful in many ways (checkout person had no eye contact, no manners, no "thank you for staying", nothing). The neighborhood is great though. Restaurants and shops very close by (Logan Circle). I wouldn't stay here again nor would I recommend it to others. I know that there are other Kimptons in DC that are MUCH better in so many ways.
