You are right, I tend to try to have a plan in my head, but once I am there, I go with the flow. Thanks for the good perspective.

Looks like there is something wrong with Condor website. I have been trying to book for several days now, using two different IPs, four browsers, private and non-private browsing and Mac and Iphone. I tried fares constructed by Google Flights and Skyscanner, and fares constructed directly on Condor website. I asked my friend from another continent to try and same issue replicated. What happens is that I find fares and choose them, and click to proceed. Then there is either new page with first "cloud" for choosing extras or something, when I click on that nothing happens and I can't proceed. Or I go through seat selection and the next page is supposed to have a form for personal details but fields are missing so I can't make any input and can't move anywhere. Whatsapp customer service suggested to book by phone. Is this really necessary? Is it only me? I don't get what is going on.

Blitzen, thanks for keeping us informed about your Condor experience. I'll be following your path in less than a month. Are there any other details you could share with us about your return flight: the service, the lounge in FRA, food..., etc.? How long did it take you to get through passport control and security in FRA? Was there a separate check-in line for business travelers in FRA? Anything else that might be useful for future travelers? Thanks in advance.

Did you already fly? How is your impression

Has anyone taken Condor from BWI or SAT? Do they have to double-cater those flights, or, is the catering a bit more marginal? I figure it might be worse due to those stations likely having a lower catering volume (if they cater at all).

I will write about my recent experience here. As mentioned, firstly I was unable to book any flight on Condor website. I managed to get the routing I want on my second Iphone (I could not get to the payment page on my other devices). This routing was not possible to be designed directly on Condor website but I did managed to get it using Google flights which then forwarded me to Condor website, but prices already went up so I had to use OTA which kept old prices. I was flying FRA-CUN in Premium economy. Their new Airbus A330 Neo is well designed inside (I don't know how it was before), premium economy has more leg space (I think it is 35 inches) and screens are huge. We had two full meals provided, as well as one snack if I remember right. The provided toothbrush and toothpaste, sleeping mask, socks and a little waterproof bag for storing these. Unlimited drinks. I think premium economy fare per direction is 90e more than economy (that fare which included checked luggage), it may be bit more expensive than basic economy fare. Some half hour before the boarding started, they announced from the gate that there are few seats left in Premium Economy class and they are available to be purchased with a my 50% discount. Lady sitting next to me did that but I did not inquire about the price. Catering was quite decent. I believe that due to my custom-built ticket my luggage got stuck in FRA (my first flight was into FRA). This is weird as the lady at the check-in told me she managed to route the bag and get the tags to go all the way to CUN, but she could not get me second boarding pass (FRA-CUN). So I was without bag for about two days. I would probably try to get same fare for going back to FRA if the price will be decent.

Thank you for the review. We need more of these. I will do a review after my first Condor flight next month.

No worries. I was told by the lady next to me that Condor is a vacation provider for Germany so that seems to be a reason why there are not so many reviews around.

Yes traditional vacation airline that was owed by LH (now a UK company). All very German centric (see only summer route to PHX as only Germans would travel here in the summer).

Erm, Lufthansa sold off Condor in 1997-2002 to what eventually became Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook went belly up in September 2019. Condor is now owned by Attestor, a UK investment firm.

So since my flight was one way (two segments), first flight was economy and second premium economy. Difference between economy and premium economy for the second flight was 90 euro. Now I am looking for a return flight and difference between economy and premium economy for the long flight is 300e. I doubt I will be paying that much.

Recent upgrade - Prime Seat

Flew YVR - FRA two days ago (Sep 11). Did the auction at Seatboost. Was surprised starting bid was $750 CAD as I heard people talking about upgrades starting at around $450 in Seatboost for Condor. Turns out regular business seats were sold out, auction was for remaining Prime Business Seat(s) (first row with more space and bigger screens). Won the upgrade for $850 CAD and had an amazing flight on one of their Prime Seats.

That is great news. We will be flying out this week in regular business class. I hope it is a nice flight. The heavy negative reviews online are weighing on my mind. I do wonder if these negative reviews are people in economy that don't fly often. Flying in economy, no matter what airline for anything over 4 hours is not a good experience. Thanks for the review.

UPDATE

Condor flight due to fly out of LAX on 9/14 had to detour to Canada for a medical emergency. Flight time moved to 10:00 pm, then to midnight, then cancelled to Sunday. That being said, you can't avoid unexpected emergencies. Condor took very good care of us. Hotel and food vouchers. They handled it very well for me anyway. Hopefully we will get out today. A good lesson to always add a day or two to international flights.
