Anyone knows how much upgrade to J class on Condor 5 freedom flight from/to BKK-SYX?

We’re looking at buying a ticket LEJ-FRA-SEA with LEJ-FRA on LH and FRA-SEA on DE. This is to get one of the kids back home at the end of the school year. They’ll likely have three bags to check in. Will the bag fees and rules be governed by LH as the operator of the first leg, or by DE as the overwater carrier? We’re trying to factor in whose fee table applies and whether DE will allow the third checked bag.

Any help is appreciated.

When you ring up the Booking on Lufthansa's Website, then they will show you somewhere which baggage rules apply. - I have not yet figured out when they apply what.
You'd also be able to see it when looking at the ticket. In the endorsement box there's a "BG" followed by the carrier code.
Per US DOT Rule, Lufthansa's Baggage Rules will apply, but I have it already seen in the past where they nevertheless put a "BG DE" into the ticket.
It shouldn't matter much as the prices are pretty much similar (2nd piece discounted and 3rd in the range of 150-200€; assuming max. 23kg/50lbs).
Assuming the flight will happen in Economy, then purchasing two more bags won't be an issue but can only happen during check-in.
It will most likely only work at the airport and not during online check-in with Lufthansa.

Thanks for the quick response. Now we're dealing with another issue. The Condor website is returning a message that the connecting flight (assuming this means the LH flight LEJ-FRA) is not confirmed and thus the itinerary cannot be booked. We'll make another attempt later today, then call if necessary.

Try to use your Condor PNR on the Lufthansa website/app and check what it shows (quite often it works; in case it wouldn't, you'd have to reach out to Condor to get the Lufthansa PNR).
Then scroll all the way down to Passenger Receipt and check if Lufthansa sees a Ticket Number for the Lufthansa operated Segment.

My wife called and was told that the displayed flights with LH connections aren't bookable through Condor. The agent basically said anything that shows up with a Lufthansa flight isn't real. Because of this we ended up booking through AA, including the LH LEJ-FRA leg.

Just received this email from Condor about their new baggage collection and check-in service. Good to see a German airline doing something different!
